The other day we had heavy rains. Where my son works the parking lot flooded. A man hole cover lid came off on the parking lot and it was pushing water 3ft up out of it. My son sent me a video of it. The whole lot looked like a lake!

One of the great things about closing the streets for the FIFA fan fest is that restaurants can set up tables outside for people to enjoy themselves under the city sky. It will all go back to normal soon, but this event has shown us what is possible.
Carless streets really do make walking around a town or city so much more enjoyable. Definitely would like to see more of that.

Can someone tell me the downside of blocking on all public RPC nodes the known spammers of Hive? I mean, said spammers could spin up their own node, and continue to spam the blockchain.
What would be the issue? No pearl clutching please.
The bpcvoter accounts, kgakakillerg, maybe a few others. Folks who have a narcissistic belief their rants need to be posted in hundreds of pointless replies to other posts, and who believe they are victims of persecution once downvoted for their spam.

there's a few accounts that post the same garbage thousands of times a day... spammers of the worse caliber. I've blocked them from visibility on snapie, but if you go to other frontends you will see them bpcvoter is one of them. Anyways... the idea is to stop that bloat from happening.

Well as soon as you block one the spammer just creates a new account and then you will need to block that one too and this cycle will just go on forever.
I find them annoying as well. But why not simply mute them? Should be pretty quick for you and their comments will disappear.

We could create a script that could detect a style of post like spam and automatically block them on all levels so that even if they tried to play the cat and mouse game it would be detected but would cost money and need to be done with ai
For now the best thing to do is get them blocked on all front ends. Not sure why peakd won’t even block bpcvoter on their frontend, hive.blog either?

Those who are not fans of censorship allow the individual users choose who to mute, which is exactly how a censorship resistant platform should work and this is probably what Peakd will say as well @meno
there’s real content then there is spam content. that’s why we need ai with a harness to make that determination, as long as rules decide and not humans it’s ok

I believe that if it is truly repetitive & strains resources causing monetary loss or strain, then it's justified to mute an account from the frontend entirely. If it is simply annoying and no more wasteful of resources than other users, then let the individuals choose who 2 mute
i do have those accounts muted, i guess my idea was more about the unnecessary bloat being added every single day.

Aggggghhhh... If only there was a mechanism or function to make those SPAM accounts invisible to the public (Front-end) without having to block or mute them manually. I don't actually think you are being selfish by choosing yourself first. Though some people may not agree with me. In everything you do, choose yourself first, except it has to do with protecting your family, or sacrificing for your family (wife and kids)
It also gets hard sometimes. Some days you feel energised and ready to lift planet earth (metaphor), while some times you feel weak, lazy and you feel like you lost your motivation. Have you ever thought on giving up on your goals?

There are day's I just question everything and ask myself if it's even worth it. But then, I've been my on motivation for quite a while now. Each time I look back at the various things life has thrown my way, I see reasons to pick myself back up and chase my goals
I like how motivated you are towards achieving your goals. It's not easy. One thing I know is that no matter the rate of work and individual puts, their goals don't come immediately, but it would definitely come. It takes time.
I watched a video by Late Jim Rhon and he said: "Set a goal to become a millionaire, not for the million, but for who it would make of you to become a millionaire." This quote lives rent free in my mind. A lot of meaning to it. It's not about setting goals and being motivated
And being motivated to achieve those goals, but it is about the person you become in the course of achieving your goals. The person we become while trying make it in life is more important than whether or not we actually make it in life.
The major reason I can't give up is:
My daughter; "look at that house... People have a lot of money but we don't."
I can't bare to bring children into this world and watch them suffer. I'm doing it for me (first) and my children to come.
My present situation is always my motivation. Do I really want to end up this way? Or make a move and change even if it's small.
My future makes me move even when I feel tired or weak.
Most times, looking at how things are, you can not even have time to lazy around. The only thing that would be going through your mind is - "I have two options. It's either I make it or I make it." There's no other way.
I'm glad that irrespective how the things life throws at you, you always find a way to come back to doing what you know how to do best. Is there ever a time you felt like you've done enough and you deserve some rest? Or maybe a time when you felt demotivated?
Yes, there was a time when I felt like: "I just need to take a break for a while", and that was when I began to lose. So I noticed it and reset myself.
It's good to take breaks in life, but then, too many sleep makes poverty comes quicker (according to the bible).
It's calm to take short breaks but it's not calm to lazy around for too long.
I can say I'm doing it all for myself. Then, my family and every other person comes next.
You can't give what you don't have so I can't claim to extend a helping hand to others when I'm nowhere being stable myself.
I'm struggling because I want to change the unchangeable generational story in my family.
Whenever I feel like I can't keep pushing I will suddenly remember I have a baby sis who is rooting for me. And I have my mum and dad who will walk miles to see me excell.

And remember, that a fever is the body creating the ideal conditions for the disease to heal. So the fever diminishing is a sign that the condition is healing. I don't think that attempting to reduce the fever (with ice, or whatever) is necessarily a good idea.

Who of you have heard about the site for nuclear waste in Asse, near Hannover, Germany? I might be writing an article about that one soon, here on Hive.
What problems about storing nuclear waste have you heard about in other places?
I think the alleged problems are overblown. Some contaminated radioactive waste is inevitable, but I can't shake the suspicion that expended fuel rods are being wasted when they could be reinriched. Admittedly, I am not a nuclear physicist.
I'd agree that long-term storage probably is a moral issue, about people in 5000 years, rather than a materialist one. But a lot of people will have problems with nuclear power used by man kind in the first place. Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Fukushima and Chernobyl all were a thing.
Nuclear power and nuclear weapons are not necessarily intertwined. Fukushima was an old design in a tsunami zone. Chernobyl was an even older Soviet design operated outside its design parameters. Nuclear power is still exponentially safer than anything else.
Poor design isn't really a justification. Even the best system can fail. The problem is that with other sources of power like solar, wind, water, gas, you have a moderate constant risk. Nuclear disasters happen unexpectedly and with massive destruction nobody was able to predict.
Let me make an analogy:
Airplanes are one of the safest mass transit systems we have, but if we only focus on the sensationalized news of tragic crashes, they feel more dangerous.
It's not really an argument against air travel to point at 9/11, TWA flight 800, MH370, etc.

Not nuclear waste but near me is an old ammunition plant that's already had 2 explosions within the last 20 years. The second one was bad. It shook houses and blew out windows of houses a mile away from it. Thankfully in 2017 they finally removed it all.

In Belgrade, on a tour, I was told, the castle also had a major explosion in the olden days, when gunpowder was stored in the castle. Weapons are not just dangerous in war times. 🕊
Yes. I agree. These were so dangerous due to the company that was disposing of them went out of business but didn't get rid of everything. The buildings weren't maintained and exposure broke the explosives down and made them volatile.🤦🤬

Iran-America war has tough consequences for Pakistanis Economy as for the world.
Oh, now I get it. No worries, it will be fine soon enough. Although, it is hard time especially for Pakistan. But, it also bringss tons of missed opportunities for Pakistan. It all depends on how Pakistan sees through it, and uses it for betterment such as enroute to Central Asia via Iran and cheap gas/oil purchase.
