Kub Kao Kub Pla is a restaurant we love going to every time we go to Bangkok. They have a few branches around Bangkok and the food quality is always top-notch, never disappoint but the prices are the cheapest for Thailand standards. The menu has a huge selection of food, always something for everyone.
I ordered the raw prawns with chill sauce (sauce on the side), pork neck with sticky rice, and an iced chrysanthemum. I’m alone so I can’t order too much in case I waste food. The restaurant was busy then but the food came very quickly.
The iced chrysanthemum drink was not as big as some restaurants but it did come in a fancy cup and you can tell it is not watered down. It was pretty refreshing since it was so hot outside. The chilli prawns came and the prawns were super fresh. I’m glad I have asked the chili to be on the side, it was super hot. I guess it is standard for Thailand but for me, the level of spicy is very high.
Lastly, I’ve been loving pork neck with sticky rice on this trip. I never liked it as much, I’m not a meat person but due to seeing this all the time in Thai series, the moment I tried it, I fell in love with it. The sticky rice is not like the ones I’m used to, it is a bit more drier but creamy flavour. Not sure how to explain it but definitely it is was a good combo with the pork neck. I’ve always been a fan of pork neck but not fried but since this trip, I am a super fan of this dish. I am going to try and replicate it at home, hopefully, I won’t stuff up too bad.
As I mentioned, I try to go back to this chain when I’m back in Thailand. Never disappoint even though the price isn’t the cheapest but the food level is always high. Also note the menu has English plus clear pictures so there is no fear when you need to order.
