A new day begins with brightness and full determination as always. Our main activity every day is preparing and creating delicious Southern Thai curries for both local Thai customers and foreign tourists to taste authentic local flavors. But the special part of today starts early in the morning because we have an important appointment at Pantip Market, Koh Phangan: a big cleaning day
From 9:15 AM onwards, all the vendors wholeheartedly worked together to clean the area for good hygiene and cleanliness to welcome visitors. As a representative of my shop, I sent my beloved husband to join in and be a vital part of the market cleaning effort. Seeing the atmosphere of the vendors coming together to sweep, wipe, and spray water to clean the floors with smiles filled my heart with warmth and a sense of community unity.
While my husband was helping out at the community center, I stayed home and tended the stove. Today, I had a team of important helpers: my mother, my sister, and my husband's sister. Together, we meticulously prepared and seasoned a flavorful Southern Thai curry. The aroma of the spices filled the house, making everyone's mouths water. Once the food was cooked and everything was packed up, I waited for my husband to come home and pick us up for our market date.
But oh no, it seems the schedule was a little off today. After waiting for a while, my husband was still busy helping his friends clean up the market. So my sister and I decided to drive to Pantip Market ourselves. When we arrived, we still saw some of our fellow vendors diligently cleaning up in certain areas. It was a very lovely sight.
After the area was sparkling clean, I immediately started setting up and arranging our "Aunt Daeng's Curry Stall." Preparing the equipment and arranging the food trays to showcase its appetizing appearance requires considerable time and attention. Today, our stall looked especially fresh because we had beautiful vases of white and green flowers placed on the tables for our customers, adding a refreshing and pleasant touch, along with baskets of fresh vegetables, a large bowl of chili paste, and free cold drinking water.
Today's curry menu is truly impressive! There's a wide variety to choose from, all vibrantly yellow and appetizing. Although the initial sales atmosphere was a bit quiet, with few customers, this vendor's heart is still overflowing with joy and happiness every time she serves curry. Seeing customers leave satisfied with a smile is the greatest reward for a cook.
