Meals and Food Photography

Time for a Leaky20 food post! I do these periodically. Here are some of the meals that I've made recently, meals I've eaten. Let's take a look!

The first meal is a poached egg. I used to make these quite often but I rarely do anymore. A poached egg is an easy way to make breakfast fancy. I'm not thrilled by the way I plated this one to be honest. I find it to be way too busy.

Next is a simple lunch of sardines on sourdough bread. I usually eat this on weekends if I'm not too hungry and don't feel like spending a lot of time making food. I typically eat this with cherry tomatoes as a vegetable. They go pretty well together.

My wife recently made a delicious beef bourguignon. Usually I make this dish for supper on weekends but she took the reins on it this time. It turned out really amazing.

It had so much flavor. I'd say that it was even better then when I make it.

Ribs were on sale recently so we bought two racks of them. I made one rack for dinner on a recent Sunday and then froze the other rack. These were St. Louis style ribs. We prefer baby back but I generally just buy whichever style is on sale that week.

We ordered sushi one night from a restaurant close to us. We order from this place maybe once every two months I'd say when we are feeling tired or lazy to make supper.

They gave us a few fortune cookies this time. They don't always give them to us when we order which is odd. They are very inconsistent with their cookies.

Sounds like it might have a new future career ahead of me... or maybe just a hobby?

I used to roast a chicken quite often when we were living in France. Now I rarely ever do. Chicken used to be a very cheap meat in Canada but it has actually become very expensive in the last few years. I only buy whole chickens when they go on sale now.

I do like making them though. I just cover them in butter, in and under the skin, season them and roast them in the oven.

Well thats it for the meals that I've made. Or at least the ones that I've taken photos of. Thanks for checking them out. Until next time, thanks for stopping by.

All of it looks pretty delicious except maybe the sushi. I have never really been a fan of that!

Thats fair. Everyone has their own tastes and sushi is one of those pretty unique and different foods from traditional North American meals.

Thanks for the support!

Haven't made roast chook in forever. I like putting a lemon in it and putting lots of garlic and herbs under the skin.

Jamie loves sardines on toast but I can't bear the smell. I'd love to like them, really, but I tend to go for smoked kippers in a tin instead..

I sometimes put lemon and garlic inside as well. But it increases the cooking time significantly so I didn't do it this time. Its a good method though.

Yeah sardines are definitely love em or hate em. My wife would never eat them either.

My son texted me this recipe the other day and I was like mm, sounds good, whilst secretly gagging.

just heaps of acid to cut the fishiness

Lmao 🤣 Thats funny.
Thats a lot of ingredients. The taste doesn't bother me so I basically eat them plain. Though I should branch out a little and try something new. Maybe I'll give this recipe (or parts of it) a go.
