Haven't been to Secret Recipe in ages for a proper meal. Usually go for their cornish pies which are really good value for money in my opinion.
This year, I picked it as a place to celebrate my birthday with my immediate family simply because it's a nostalgic place I grew up wanting to have a meal at.
Really enjoyed the mee goreng. Tasty although a little on the spicier side for my liking. Still, very satisfying especially if you're craving for some mamak mee goreng.
However some iconic dishes that have been on their menu for 20+ years like their beef noodles and lamb shank were not great.
The beef noodles were too salty and lack depth of flavor. For the lamb shank, the meat on the outside was charred to an inedible hardness likely due to overheating it up in the microwave. If Secret Recipe is reading this, here's a solution: Add a bowl of water in it to microwave when heating up.
The gravy was enjoyable along with the bread that comes along with it but a good 20% was inedible.
Overall, I still did enjoy the meal and the company.
