Guys I need your advice. I'm the type to always mind my business but this has been bothering me.
My neighbour has been indoors for 1 week and it's unlike him.
And when I went to knock on his door this morning I heard him crying. I'm confused.
Omg, that sounds like someone going through a depressing situation but can't seem to confide in anyone. Please, try as much as possible to speak kind words to him from outside and if it falls, try to contact the caretaker. I hope he doesn't self-harm.

I don't know. I'm still contemplating on whether to check or not. I don't know if invading his privacy. But I'm worried at the same time. For a man to be crying it must be really something serious.
First of all, your effort to check on him, even when it's an uncomfortable thing for you to do is commendable. It's clear he's going through something which you wouldn't have known had you not made that kind gesture...
Well I still haven't checked up on him.
I'm still contemplating but I'm sure he is not okay.

To address the issue, I'd suggest you try to put some persistence. He's currently in a dangerous state, God forbid but you can't tell what action will be next. Try to persist and reason with him to open up. You can do that with other neighbours. I believe people should have some humanity at least. Or even with close friends, if you need that help. Most importantly, if you know someone close to him, friends or loved ones, try to reach them; let them know what's going on, and put heads and hands together to help that neighbour. Hope this helps.

Like I said I just watch and observe in the compound. And from my observation was how I could tell he hasn't come out for days. ☹️ But I will try and ask.

You know I'm anything but surprised. Life is so so tough on its own and living in this terrible country of ours? Jobless and yet having loads of responsibilities and expectations on your shoulder??
Honestly, I won't dare blame him. But still, I'll always be against suicide. It's never the best option.
But in everything, I'm very much glad you have your neighbour at heart so much to notice his absence. That says a lot!

This isn't you pokenosing just so you know... You're human and it is right of you to do just that. I'm glad you already took the step to knock, hopefully he should open up. Also, I would suggest you call or message him if you have his contact, or better still find a means
A means of communicating with him, maybe if you know anyone close to him or even call out to him via the window or so... Might sound somehow, I'm just talking from experience though. You never know what exactly he's going through, just so he wouldn't hurt himself.

Welp, I don't really think there is anything wrong with asking him what the matter was. Its humane. Just reach out, and he will probably open up to you
