Monster Cloud

Today, before lunch, I sat down in an abandoned garden that Clare and I take care of.

I rested my back against a stone wall, facing the mountain view that gives me daily peace as well as a longing to go out there ( as mentioned in yesterday's write up ). Away from the city, into the wild.

At my right side, there was a tamarillo tree. I found myself surrounded by two feet high borage and witnessed the busy bees, moving from one of its many purple flowers to the other.

It pleased me to see a couple of butterflies, as well as two birds flying back and forth, carrying little twigs in their beaks. They were clearly in the process of nest building. This put a smile on my face.

There was a nice amount of wind and every now and then the sun was temporarily blocked by a big grey cloud, which made a huge difference in temperature ( from almost Summerish to a little chilly ).

Meanwhile, I was thinking of the tatties and carrots that I had put into the wood stove to roast. Clare was keeping an eye on them.

Staring at the fast moving clouds, I got intrigued by the shape of one of them and this eventually lead to the drawing included.

It turned into a cute monster cloud, its leg resembling a flash of lightning.

Here's a before and after ( just crayon and after water coloring it):

When I had almost finished the drawing, Clare joined me into the garden. I stood up to say 'hi!', as I was hidden behind the borage.

Clare picked a bunch of elderflower blossoms ( for drying and future tea making/steaming/etc ) and after the two of us had enjoyed a little more time in the garden, we went back inside to have one of the tastiest lunches ever ( and we eat very well overall ). The roasted tatties and carrots were amazing. A pesto made with rucola we foraged yesterday night and cherry tomatoes as an added bonus completed the feast.

Have a lovely day!

Aaah, this is a lovely log of the day, dearest Beloved @vincentnijman - you remind me of the extreme preciousness of the earlier part of today - and yes, the food was spectacolare, as it most often is!! The pesto especially was perfetto 😊🌟👑🌼🪷🌟💝

Oh goodness that sounds like paradise. I hope you dont think it wierd that I imagined you naked as you rise from the borage. You had made it sound rather edenic. Don't worry in this imagining your important bits were obscured by your notebook and the borage.

Any kind of pesto with home grown and roast veggies is amazing.

I can just see the Portuguese countryside too ... Bright with yellow and purple flowers.

Roasted food is excellent, I tried it few times and was great, try with potatoes!

Sitting in the garden is truly a beautiful sight, as you sit and watch the clouds fly by while drawing. It is truly a beautiful drawing. The view of the mountains while sitting in the garden is also beautiful. I enjoy the view of the mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and snow once a year.

Love the texture watercolourising (not a word) it added :)
