A Simple Tuesday Morning: Cooking Adobong Kangkong Leaves and Fried Rice

It was a peaceful Tuesday morning, and I woke up feeling excited to prepare a simple homemade breakfast. I always enjoy cooking because it makes me happy, especially when I use fresh vegetables. For today's meal, I decided to cook adobong kangkong leaves and fried rice. They are simple dishes, but they are delicious, healthy, and perfect for breakfast.

The first thing I did was wash the kangkong leaves very well using clean water. After washing them, I removed the old stems and kept the fresh leaves and tender stalks. Then I peeled and chopped a few cloves of garlic. I also prepared some soy sauce, vinegar, a little black pepper, and a small amount of cooking oil.

I heated a frying pan and poured a little cooking oil. When the oil became hot, I added the chopped garlic and cooked it until it turned light golden brown and smelled fragrant. After that, I added the fresh kangkong leaves and stirred them gently for a few minutes.

Then I poured in a little soy sauce and vinegar. I sprinkled a little black pepper and continued stirring until the leaves became soft and absorbed the flavor of the sauce. I did not overcook the kangkong so it would stay fresh and green. After a few more minutes, my simple adobong kangkong was ready to serve.

Next, I cooked the fried rice. I used leftover rice from the previous day because it is perfect for making fried rice. I heated another pan with a little cooking oil and sautéed more chopped garlic until it became golden brown. Then I added the rice and mixed it well with the garlic. I sprinkled a little salt and stirred everything together until the rice was hot and evenly cooked. The smell of garlic made the fried rice even more delicious.

When both dishes were ready, I placed the adobong kangkong and fried rice on a plate. Looking at the meal made me smile because it looked simple yet very tasty. I enjoyed every bite while appreciating the quiet Tuesday morning. Homemade food always brings comfort and happiness, even when the ingredients are simple and affordable.

Cooking this breakfast reminded me that we do not need expensive ingredients to make a delicious meal. Fresh vegetables from the garden and leftover rice can become a healthy and satisfying breakfast with a little effort and love. Preparing food for myself is also a way of showing gratitude for the blessings I receive each day.
