Here's my entry for BeerSaturday 308 with Blanche de Saint-Jean brewed by Lagabière, a brewery in Saint-Jean de Richelieu, Quebec. As the beer's name suggests, it's a wheat beer with 4.5% alcohol. It's not the type of beer I usually drink, but it was on sale at the SAQ where I was to buy a couple of bottles for the upcoming holidays. For your information, the Société des Alcools du Québec is a government-owned corporation that regulates wine sales in Quebec.
Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 308 avec la Blanche de Saint-Jean brassée par Lagabière, une brasserie de Saint-Jean de Richelieu au Québec. Comme son nom l'indique il s'agit d'une bière blanche de blé avec 4.5% d'alcool. Ce n'est pas le type de bière que je bois mais elle était en vente à la SAQ où j'étais pour acheter deux ou trois bouteilles pour les Fêtes qui approchent. Pour info, la Société des Alcools du Québec, en effet c'est l'état qui gère une partie de la vente de vins au Québec.

📜 Brewery / Brasserie :
Lagabière was founded by brothers Sébastien and Francis Laganière in 2012 in the city of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. The brewery began as a student project while developing a business plan. They pursued the project to completion and still use the space they found at the time. Since then, they have enjoyed considerable success with a fairly large production; I think they are no longer considered as a microbrewery.
Lagabière a été fondée par les frères Laganière, Sébastien et Francis en 2012 dans la ville de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. La brasserie a commencé à cause d'un projet d'étude lors de la création d'un plan d'affaire. Ils ont poussé jusqu'au bout ce projet et utilise toujours le local qu'il avait déniché à l'époque. Le succès est au rendez-vous depuis avec une production assez importante, je pense qu'elle ne fait plus partie des microbrasseries.

Blanche de St-Jean is a wheat beer with 4.5% alcohol brewed exclusively for the SAQ (Sûreté du Québec) like the one I featured a few months ago La Blonde de St-Jean BeerSaturday 430.
In the glass, it has a hazy appearance, but not as pale as you'd expect from a wheat beer; it's closer to orange with a fizzy head that dissipates very quickly. Between the first photo in the post and the one above, there was barely enough time to rotate the camera 90 degrees before the head was gone.
On the palate, you'll find citrus flavors with a touch of coriander. It's easy to drink and refreshing; perhaps better enjoyed in the summer than on a cold, rainy day. I'll be going back to NEIPAs, which I love, in the winter.
La Blanche de St-Jean est une bière blanche de blé avec 4.5% d'alcool brassée exclusivement pour la SAQ comme cela que j'ai présentée il y a quelques mois La Blonde de St-Jean BeerSaturday 430.
Dans le verre, on a une robe trouble mais pas si pâle pour une bière blanche, on est proche de l'orange avec une mousse effervescente qui disparait très rapidement. Entre la première photo du post et celle au dessus, il y a eu juste le temps de tourner l'appareil photo de 90 degrès, et déjà plus de mousse.
En bouche, on retrouve des saveurs d'agrumes avec une touche de coriandre. Elle est facile à boire et rafraichissante, peut-être mieux de boire cela l'été que par une journée froide et pluvieuse. Je vais retourner vers les NEIPA que j'affectionne beaucoup en hiver.
Design
In terms of design, Lagabière illustrated its can with geese, one of which is in the foreground, landing in the water. The colors chosen are reminiscent of winter, which is why it caught my eye; I thought it was a NEIPA. But the beer type is clearly indicated, and I decided to give it a try anyway 😀.
Côté design, Lagabière a illustré sa cannette avec des oies dont une au premier plan se pose dans l'eau. Les couleurs choisies rappellent l'hiver, c'est pour cela qu'elle a attiré mon oeil pensant qu'il s'agissait d'une NEIPA. Mais c'est indiqué en assez gros le type de bière et je me suis laissé tenté quand même 😀.
