But let's get back to our topic! "Sea Pearl" is the brightest of the three cafes. It's a beach cafe with a vibrant yellow tent and a yellow fence around the veranda. Sun loungers with soft red mats and sun umbrellas are arranged nearby. The restrooms are visible to the right—a white chicken coop, accessible by climbing a flight of stairs. A big plus for this cafe is that several tables near the entrance are set right on the sand. You can't imagine how wonderful it is to kick off your shoes and sink your feet into the warm sand, enjoying the views of the Arabian Sea. This alone is worth a trip to Goa! In fact, without much thought, we grabbed a table on the sand. So, let's take a quick look at the menu. Yes! Everything flows, everything changes. Today this cafe exists, and tomorrow it could move to another location or close completely. COVID-19 has really crippled the tourism industry; many have closed due to loans and banks' crushing pressures—that's capitalist life. All these old bars, operating for five centuries, are most often found only in fairy tales.
It's getting dark, the lanterns are lit. But sunsets in Goa don't always delight with images of the sun sinking into the sea. Today, for example, clouds rolled in and the sun never showed. During the day, of course, there was plenty of sunshine. Okay, let's get to... the food!
So, the "Sea Pearl" beach cafe, like many other cafes, has a menu with pictures. Prices change, inflation, the world is rapidly going to hell, and therefore the prices on the menu are only for general information about "what and how they serve here." All menu prices are in Indian rupees. In India, prices are always in rupees. This isn't Turkey, where everything at the resorts is in euros and dollars, where any store will happily sell them.
Soft drinks, spirits, a wide selection of rum, and beer. All of these are available at any beach cafe; they're the mainstay of any establishment's revenue, leading to the heaviest markups. We don't approve of this; the Ministry of Health warns against it, and so on! In the Goan heat, our favorite drink is water from a liter bottle.

Aber zurück zum Thema! Das „Sea Pearl“ ist das auffälligste der drei Cafés. Es ist ein Strandcafé mit einem leuchtend gelben Zelt und einem gelben Zaun um die Veranda. Sonnenliegen mit weichen roten Matten und Sonnenschirmen stehen in der Nähe. Die Toiletten befinden sich rechts – ein weißer Hühnerstall, erreichbar über eine Treppe. Ein großer Pluspunkt dieses Cafés ist, dass einige Tische in der Nähe des Eingangs direkt im Sand stehen. Man kann sich kaum vorstellen, wie herrlich es ist, die Schuhe auszuziehen und die Füße in den warmen Sand zu versenken, während man den Blick auf das Arabische Meer genießt. Allein dafür lohnt sich schon eine Reise nach Goa! Tatsächlich haben wir uns kurzerhand einen Tisch im Sand geschnappt. Werfen wir also einen kurzen Blick auf die Speisekarte. Ja! Alles ist im Fluss, alles verändert sich. Heute gibt es dieses Café noch, und morgen könnte es umziehen oder ganz schließen. COVID-19 hat die Tourismusbranche schwer getroffen; viele Betriebe mussten aufgrund von Krediten und dem erdrückenden Druck der Banken schließen – so ist das nun mal im Kapitalismus. All diese alten Bars, die seit fünf Jahrhunderten bestehen, findet man heutzutage meist nur noch in Märchen.
Es wird dunkel, die Laternen werden angezündet. Doch Sonnenuntergänge in Goa bieten nicht immer ein erfreuliches Bild der im Meer versinkenden Sonne. Heute zum Beispiel zogen Wolken auf, und die Sonne ließ sich nicht blicken. Tagsüber gab es natürlich reichlich Sonnenschein. Okay, kommen wir nun zum Essen!
Das Strandcafé „Sea Pearl“ hat, wie viele andere Cafés auch, eine Speisekarte mit Bildern. Preise ändern sich, Inflation, die Welt geht rasant den Bach runter, und deshalb dienen die Preise auf der Speisekarte nur der allgemeinen Information darüber, was und wie hier serviert wird. Alle Preise auf der Speisekarte sind in indischen Rupien angegeben. In Indien werden Preise immer in Rupien angegeben. Das ist nicht die Türkei, wo in den Resorts alles in Euro und Dollar abgerechnet wird und wo jedes Geschäft diese Währungen problemlos verkauft.
Erfrischungsgetränke, Spirituosen, eine große Auswahl an Rum und Bier. All das gibt es in jedem Strandcafé; es ist die Haupteinnahmequelle der Lokale und führt daher zu den höchsten Preisaufschlägen. Wir missbilligen das; das Gesundheitsministerium warnt davor usw.! In der Hitze Goas trinken wir am liebsten Wasser aus der Literflasche.
