Hello everyone! 🌿

Whenever I go back to my hometown, there is one place I can never miss my brother's home in the mountains. If I simply pass by without visiting him, I already know he will get upset. He may not be the type to say "I miss you" or show his emotions openly, but I know how much he values family. We have always been close, even we are not an active in social media to show our closeness. Being the youngest in our family, my siblings love teasing me because they say I'm his favorite. Whenever there are documents to process or papers to file, they all call me first and they ask me the favor to process it.

This visit felt extra special because my brother is building his new home on the mountain where we grew up. The house is not finished yet, I can see a simple home but full of love and peace. But the moment I stepped inside, I felt something that no luxurious house could ever give me peace.
From the windows, all I could see were endless mountains, green trees, and the quiet beauty of nature. There were no traffic noises, no crowds, no rush. Just the sound of the wind, the birds, and the simple rhythm of life. It made me realize how noisy life has become, not only around us but also inside our hearts.

Sometimes we spend years chasing bigger dreams, better jobs, and more money, believing they will finally make us happy. But standing there in my brother's unfinished home reminded me that happiness doesn't always come with expensive things. Sometimes, it comes from waking up with fresh air, growing your own food, and ending the day surrounded by the people you love.

I will always be grateful to my parents for the life they built for us. Years ago, land here in the mountains was very affordable. Whenever someone wanted to sell their land, my father would sell one of his carabaos or horses just to buy it. At that time, they probably didn't realize how valuable those sacrifices would become for their children. Today, each of us has a piece of land because of their hard work and long-term vision. Looking back, I realize that the greatest inheritance isn't money it's the opportunity they created for us.

After I got married, I chose to settle in my husband's hometown. My online work fits well there, and since my husband is also a farmer, life became practical for our family. Farming there is different because tractors and machines make the work much easier. Here in the mountains, people used to rely almost entirely on hard manual labor. Thankfully, things are slowly changing, and even backhoes are now available for hire, making construction and farming less difficult.

My brother has always inspired me with the way he lives. He works hard every single day, planting vegetables, taking care of animals, and making sure his family has everything they need. They rarely buy vegetables from the market because almost everything comes from their own garden. Watching him reminds me that living simply doesn't mean living with less—it means living with enough and appreciating what God has already provided.

My sister-in-law prepared boiled sweet potatoes and other homemade food for us. It wasn't a fancy meal, but every bite tasted fresh, healthy, and made with love. Maybe that's why food in the mountains tastes different. It's not just because it's organic or free from preservatives it's because it comes from hardworking hands and grateful hearts.

As I was about to leave, I paused for a moment and looked at the mountains once again. Life has taught me that we don't all have to follow the same path. Some people find success in busy cities, while others find happiness in quiet mountains. Neither is better than the other. What truly matters is finding the place where your heart feels at peace.

For me, this visit wasn't just about seeing my brother's new home. It was a reminder that no matter how far life takes us, our roots will always call us back. And sometimes, the richest life isn't the one filled with a material things, but the one filled with contentment and the simple blessings we often overlook.

I really enjoyed this. There's something special about growing your own food and turning it into a simple homemade meal. Life in the mountains may be simple, but it brings a kind of peace and happiness that's hard to find elsewhere. Thanks for sharing a glimpse of this beautiful lifestyle.

Living in the mountain taught us to appreciate simple things teach. Like harvesting veggies from the backyard and sharing it with the people we love. The peace and fresh air here are more than a blessing. Thanks for appreciating and reading my story.

I'm pretty sure the new home of you brother will be wonderful. The view from there seems really a beautiful show. ❤️

Oh, how naive I was when I thought that life is better in a bigger city than in my small hometown... Also, when I was a kid, my parents didn't have enough money to take us to the seaside every year, unlike most of my friends... Maybe because of that, when I got older, I moved to the town by the sea... Lived there for around a decade and moved inland...
Today, I'm not "dreaming" about the sea anymore, but rather about those mountain views you shared in your post... Having a small house in the mountains, growing your food, sounds like a perfect way of living! Kudos to your brother!
