That first teen age year

Throw back a couple of weeks ago, it was junior's birthday. His first official teenage birth day. It's a lot different than my time, when my parents doesn't really know how to differentiate the difference between teen and pre-teen.

It's a lot different now a days, even my elder kid is now towards her end of teenage years, there's already generation gap. Things that usually excite them is no longer a thing. The more we adults trying to impress them, it felt more like insulting them. In their mind, they're no kids anymore. The moment you try to lite a candle and sing a birthday song, I think that brings a tremendous amount of anxiety to them as they would feel greatly embarrassed 🤣

See? I truly know what boys nowadays wanted. The case is called "ugly cake". Don't judge the cake by its surface, just like a book by its cover. This piece of ugly cake actually taste pretty darn well. It is heavily caramelized and baked until it cracked, hence it does looks ugly.

Since there's no full size birthday cake, we ordered our individual slices of cakes, so the boy doesn't need to deal with "if anyone see me celebrating birthday with my parents" ordeal. I've got myself a piece of corn cheese cake. Once again, don't judge the cake by its outlook 🤣 the fluffy cream are actually light cream seasoned with vanilla. The cheese cake itself is NOT corn base though, it's a simple lemon base cheese cake. The magic combination being, when I bite the cream, the cream hammer the fluffy corn taste into the citrusy cheese cake, dang this chef know his cake! What a cake!

The older kid ordered a piece of giant mud pie that really looks like a pile of mud 😅 it's actually a huge chocolate cookie. I haven't seen such a huge chocolate cheap melted into a huge cookie. I took a small bite, it's actually quite sweet. Not that it's not nice, I used to work in cafe business, I can cook pastry, my preference for cookies is always leave a little room for the "salt". If you haven't try this, do it on your next pack of cookies. Season them with salt, just like how they did it with McDonald's fries 🤣 thank me later!

Dont look down on these 3 slices of cakes. They cost me like RM70, that's like 15 dollars in exchange. I think if I top up a little more like $20, I can get a huge cake, feed the family, and most probably my entire in law's family as well.

My ex-gurlfriend has always been very supportive of all kinds of celebration. I have no objections to any idea of making every events count. It is these kind of minor celebration that make up our kid's childhood memory. They may not understand why at this point of time. They still got a long way to go. Hopefully one day when they look back to these photos, they will thank their old man do this to them.

On an absolute unrelated note, I have recently - finally, dismantled my old HP monitor, salvage the stand and hinge, had the hinge hooked up to my ACER monitor, and finally I am able to turn the LCD vertically, so I can check codes with ease. However, when comes to watch porn, well... The size shrink a couple of folds 😓

The cake seems to be tasty and delicious. Not to be judged but to be appreciated.Young generation of today must taught to be how to become appreciative most especially on small things.

This is one of the wise comment I've seen in awhile. The term is correct, to be more appreciative. I don't expect the kids to understand it now, because things are still granted for them. So, this is the time for me to collect evidence 🤣 these photos are the proof! Once again, thank you for the kind comment.

This is the sign that they were not a child anymore , steps on going his adulthood. His maturity signs of they don't like to be treated as a child. The reality that we are getting older and they will get grown.

Partially disagree 🤣 teenage is still too dangerous to make their own decision if you will. I know there are kids that is mature enough to live well by their own, but definitely not these city kids. I wouldn't allow them to not celebrate because of their embarrassment 🤣 this is the proof of we adults care, even if they don't care. One fine day, when they're old enough, I'm gonna bring up these photos and tell them, see that teenage boy there? He refused to celebrate his birthday because he's too shy to being called TEEN 🤣

Happy birthday to your elder kid. You're absolutely right there's a big gap between our generation and today's generation. They are very matured and some are not that sweet just like our times. I really feel you because my son is also the same though he is only 12 years old but if I am sweet to him he always say "stop it, I'm not young anymore." 🤣

Thank you for the wishes. Not the older kid, it was the youngest. So, 13 is the first teen year, there's 6 more to go 😅

Ohhhh nooooo
I wish i am not miss threating my boy when he having teenage birthday.
I think he already half through.
I wish i can stop time until i trully ready to let go my son to be bigger
