Midnight Breakfast Buffet: Trying It for the First Time

Hello, foodies! 🍴

Breakfast is one of those meals I never skip. It sets the tone for my day and I'm glad my stomach doesn’t let me forget it. I skipped it once and it started complaining right away 😆

Gabbie and I first saw this place while walking around BGC after a night out with friends. The sign said Midnight Breakfast Buffet and we thought we'll try it next time.

Well, that next time finally happened one weekend. It's a late-night decision after finishing another chaotic round of the game Overcooked. Maybe the game was to blame? We've been cooking and preparing food there 😅 Usually, I’d just order online or make a quick snack for my midnight cravings at home. That night, I wanted an experience. So, we headed out to The Food Market Manila's Midnight Breakfast Buffet since it's just near.

It was almost 1 a.m. when we arrived. We thought there wouldn’t be a lot of people at that hour because who craves breakfast food past midnight, right? Turns out, a lot of people do.

The place was packed and we had to wait for a few minutes. The staff asked if we wanted to sit outside, but it was too humid, so we waited for an indoor table instead.

that's me! while waiting outside

The Food Market Manila's Midnight Breakfast Buffet is located at Unit 3, Commerce Center Building, 4th Avenue corner 31st Street, BGC, near St. Luke’s Hospital and right in the middle of offices. Maybe that explains why it was full. Lots of night-shift workers and office people, as well as other midnight wanderers like us were dining. It’s actually a smart location for a midnight buffet.

After a short wait, our table was ready. We paid ₱499 each and went up to the second floor (I didn’t even know there was one!). The space was a bit small for a buffet, but it had that cozy, late-night energy that made it fun.

Now, onto the food. Of course, I started with rice because what’s a Filipino breakfast without it? They had garlic rice and kimchi rice. There was also a pot of champorado, so I got some. Nothing special, but it did feel nice eating it at 1 a.m.

Then the eggs: scrambled and sunny side up. I went for the sunny side ups. There was also a wall mural that said, “Dare to be a waffle in a world full of pancakes.” And as I walked to the next section, I was thinking... I like pancakes better 😆 There were waffles but I skipped them, they looked a bit cold and cold food that should've been warm is a crime to me hahaha.

There were heavier dishes like Dinuguan, Adobo, and a lot more, which I didn’t expect for a breakfast buffet. I was hoping for tapa, longganisa, hotdogs, or dried fish, but none of those were there.

So I just went for the kakanin, pandesal, and porridge instead. I liked their rice cake though, perfect with coffee.

For dessert, I got turon and coffee jelly, which were surprisingly good. I paired it all with Four Seasons juice since only that and lemonade were available.

Here’s my quick take:

Food: ⭐⭐⭐
I wish they leaned more into Filipino breakfast favorites. Most dishes felt more like lunch/dinner options but it was okay if you came in really hungry.

Service: 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Ambiance: 🪑🪑🪑🪑
The location’s great for late-night cravings, though the space is quite small.

Would I go back? Maybe. The food wasn’t that amazing but the experience itself was different. There’s something weirdly nice about eating breakfast food while the city’s quiet.
