A spontaneous Sunday afternoon

in Weekend Experiences19 hours ago (edited)

Yesterday was a true winter day again. A mix of rain and strong wind that quickly turned into wet snow blowing from all directions. Since it was Sunday, we decided to take a little drive and go into the city without any particular plan. We had breakfast at home, had a cup of Turkish coffee, and then I got another coffee with milk at the gas station where we stopped to fill up. 😍 I'm such a coffee addict, just one cup after another. One of the few guilty pleasures I allow myself. Well, better that than doing drugs, I guess… xD

Today is a beautiful day FOR ANOTHER COFFEE! 😁

On the way, we decided to head toward the capital city. I had the idea to go through the streets where my sister and I used to live while we were both studying (her successfully, me not that much xD). But first, of course, fooooood! We remembered a "pastrmajlija" we had tried earlier in a small hidden spot nearby.

Pastrmajlija is a traditional Macedonian dish. It's a flat, boat shaped bread topped with pieces of seasoned meat, usually pork or chicken. The dough is soft and chewy, and the meat is flavorful and slightly salty. People often eat it hot, sometimes with cheese or chili peppers on top.

The only problem was that there was a snowstorm outside, and we were sitting in front of the place wrapped in blankets, waiting for the hot, most delicious dough topped with meat of our choice. I chose chicken pastrmajlija with chili peppers, and my fiancé got pork with extra cheese. Next to us was a really sweet couple eating pastrmajlija for the first time. They laughed at themselves and at us for sitting outside in freezing weather just to enjoy good, tasty food.

We drove around the nearby streets a bit more and then went to the shopping center just a few minutes away, and there we headed to the cinema to see what was playing. We decided to watch a domestic film called Wedding, a Serbian-Croatian collaboration, and it was good. A light movie, good actors, nothing too intense like the thrillers and mysteries I'm used to, just a film to relax with and get a few laughs. I guess when you hear other people reacting, it pulls you in too. I really love cinemas.

Even though I'm the type who would rewind a scene at home three hundred times in five minutes to catch something that caught my eye, watch it again, or listen to it again. Total freak. 😁

Since the snow and rain outside showed no signs of stopping, we decided not to go further into the city center because it had gotten pretty cold, and headed back home instead. In one of the stores, I spotted this cute little squirrel (normally I'm not crazy about plush toys, I never was, but this was a squirrel, and I am a squirre soo.. ). My fiancé bought it for me, and I carried it around the shopping center like a little girl dragging her favorite toy everywhere.

I guess you get a bit childlike as you get older, and we'll just say that's completely normal, hihi. xD

What about you, did you do anything interesting over the weekend? How did you spend your Saturday and Sunday?

Do you usually plan something in advance, or do you wait for the weekend to arrive and then decide whether you're in the mood for an active day outdoors, a short trip somewhere, or just binge-watching series at home? 😍

Thank you. 😊 I am always surprised with your reply. 🥰

Nisam nikada probao Pastrmaliju.

Suppeeer, čekam da stigne obaveštenje pa čitam. 🤗

Kod mene danas pada kiša. Lepo je za šetnju sa kišobranom. Čim završim obaveze po kući idem u šetnju do centra 🤗

Sending Ecency love your way, thanks for using Ecency.

Thank you guysss! 😘

My weekends are usually quiet, watching movies or series at home. So when we break with that routine I appreciate it more, hehe.

That bread looks delicious, I would have leaned for the same as your fiancé, I love cheese.

I haven't been to a movie theatre in years, but you're right that there the movies are seen in a different, more intense way.

I love your new stuffed friend, she is a very cute squirrel. 😍

Thank youuu, Palomieee! 🥰 I used to watch before a lot of movies and series at home. Now, these days, I play something I already watched just to speak behind while I am doing something else. But it's not the same..I miss that time while I was watching at least one movie per day and a few couples of episodes. Maybe I'll steal your idea for a perfect weekend next weekend. More than 400 titles waits for me on IMDB watchlist. 😍

Very similar to the Georgian dish - khachapuri

Yeeees. 😍 Never tried it but I just know I would love it, too. Because of that type of fried egg, my favourite. 🍳 Bread shape is also similar to Turkish "pide" we ate there. 🥰 Dough - fineee, meat - fineee, topings - fine, egg - fineeee 😍 Simply cannot be bad, hihi.

Yes 😄 it’s properly called Adjarian Khachapuri — if you ever see it anywhere, you absolutely have to try it!

I thnk a nice day can still happen even if the weather isn't good; I think you proved that on the weekend. :)
