I can't believe it's already almost November and it's time to send out our invitation to our annual Thanksgiving meal!
Every year, we invite the community to come to our house and celebrate Thanksgiving. It's a great time of gathering with friends who live here. Last year we had around 200 people, and we expect about the same this year.

One of the reasons we open up our home for this day is because so many of us are in the same boat. We are away from our home country, traditions, family, but we're thankful we have friends in this new land we call home. We have a large space, so we send out invitations to all of the whatsapp groups in our area and then we wait to see who comes.

It's always a fun day filled with laughter, food, and hanging out with friends new and old! We start off each Thanksgiving with a prayer, and then the line forms to get food. I typically will roast 4 chickens (because it's way cheaper than buying a turkey), make a salad, side, dessert, and drink! It's a lot of work, but it's worth it!
Each year I make an invitation to the event. It's a potluck meal, so everyone needs to bring a dish to share with others. I make the invitation for free on [greetings island](https://www.greetingsisland.com). You can even download it for free or pay for a membership and they'll remove the watermark. It's a great site for making all kinds of personalized free invitations!

Each year we've watched our little Thanksgiving gathering grow and change. I remember when we set up tables inside our house years ago and everyone gathered around a common table. That was fun, but we have grown way past that! I can't wait to see who all shows up this year.
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. Psalm 107:1
The Lord has truly blessed us and we are so thankful to Him!
