Shredded Coconut Corn Balls

Corn balls are a unique corn recipe with a grated coconut coating that makes this dish even more savory. Simple yet authentic, with the distinctive aroma of natural corn that anyone is sure to love.



Hey vegan lovers, you'll definitely love this corn dish, made from natural corn that is processed into unique chewy balls with a layer of grated coconut. You can actually fill the inside with red beans or vegan cheese. However, since I don't really like fillings, I deliberately made it simple without any filling.

At first glance, this cake looks very similar to klepon, except that klepon is usually made with glutinous rice flour without any other ingredients and filled with brown sugar. This recipe is often used as a simple alternative to make corn more appealing to many people. Its beautiful color and corn aroma make it even more tempting to try.

Ingredients Needed

1 corn cob
100 grams of glutinous rice flour
100 grams of rice flour
1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
100 grams of grated coconut
60 ml of water




Procedure for Making


Blend the corn until smooth with enough water.

Strain the corn juice into another container, then add the flour rice and sugar.

Add salt and stir until evenly mixed, then turn on the stove and cook until thickened.

Wait until it cools down a little, then stir in the glutinous rice flour until the dough is no longer sticky.

Then shape the dough into balls

and boil them in boiling water.

Remove them and drain them briefly, then immediately roll them in grated coconut that has been mixed with sugar and salt.

Sweet, savory with the authentic taste of corn and grated coconut. However, for a stronger corn aroma, you can add corn flavoring. But in my opinion, it is already very delicious even without the corn flavoring, as the corn aroma is still noticeable. I really like the soft, chewy texture, so when you bite into this cake, it is indeed very delicious.

I like the color; it's a bit more muted without food coloring, so I decided to add a little yellow food coloring to make it more appealing when served and to create a contrast with the grated coconut.
