The One Where We Had Japanese Food and Mochi

My friends and I planned to meet halfway since we all come from different cities. Some of them live in Quezon City, some are from Pasay, and some are from Rizal. We arranged to meet at Podium Mall in Ortigas for lunch.

The Podium

While waiting for the others to arrive, we went to DataBlitz. Kev, our gamer friend, bought the Pokemon Scarlet game after a few minutes of sales talk from our other friend.

When we were already complete, we asked each other which of the restaurants in Podium we should choose for lunch. We were all indecisive because we were okay with everything. We've been browsing for a restaurant in the directory for 10 minutes already, undecided and hungry. One of our friends suggested Yaku, the Japanese Grill & Restaurant near the directory. Since we couldn't pick any, we all opted to dine there.

For the appetizer, we got Nigiri - the assorted sushi (Php 329 or $5.90). It's funny that we only remembered to take a picture of it when we were already done eating.

After savoring the sushi, we ordered our meals. The three of us got Katsudon (Breaded pork with onions and eggs) for (Php 259 or $4.65 each).

Katsudon

Our other two companions ordered Gyudon (Beef with onions and raw egg).

Then, we decided to have Enoki Foilyaki - Winter mushroom in butter (Php 199 or $3.57). We finished the Enoki in about a minute! Next, we tried Negima, their grilled chicken with onion leaks (Php 129 or $2.32). I personally loved their Negima!

After having our main dishes, we opt to have some salad. We had their Spicy Tuna Salad (Mixed greens with tuna) for Php 219 or $3.93.

Spicy Tuna Salad

We were curious about the sake while eating the Spicy Tuna Salad. We were intrigued enough to order three House Sake (Php 179 or $3.21 each).

House Sake

It tastes like typical gin in the Philippines, however, it's a little milder than Ginebra San Miguel's gin. When compared to other alcoholic beverages, sake is quite soothing. Two of our friends tried it and didn't like it. The rest of us finished the remaining sake. Oh, I wish I could have it again!

We intended to eat dessert in one of the ice cream shops after we finished the sake. We passed Meet Fresh while searching for Gelato shops.

Meet Fresh serves a variety of sweets such as milkteas, Taiwanese shaved ice (such as bingsu), and mochis. I had my heart set on the Caramel Pudding with Q mochi, but it was out of stock, so I went for the Almond Pudding with Q mochi, which did not disappoint.

Almond Pudding with Q Mochi

The almond and boba Q mochis are really flavoursome! It went well with my Wintermelon Milk Tea. Perfect combination!

Have you ever dined at Yaku Grill and Restaurant?

How about at Meet Fresh?

I have not been to Yaku Grill yet but I have been to a similar Japanese resto hehe. Gyudon and Katsudon are my safe order when I cannot pick from the menu 🤣

Some pizza C! !PIZZA

Same, Ji! Hahaha We can never go wrong with Gyudon and Katsudon!

A 10-minute browse for which place to eat in? Buti 10 minutes lang. Some could go on longer than that! And in such situations, parang ayoko nang isipin what's next 😂

Carl and I love eating Japanese food but have never been to Yaku! Most probably because it's in Ortigas - pretty far from where we're located. Seems like the same case for Meet Fresh.

Will keep these options in mind in case we end up exploring The Podium! (Pero jusq ang trapik sa Pilipinnssss)

Buti nga 10 mins lang! HAHAHA

I think there's another Yaku branch in MOA?

Yey, go and blog your experience din if ever.

Wow foodtrip na foodtrip! daming order 😅

True, pang lunch to meryenda na haha

wow.

sarap naman.

Tara kain, demo! 😁

Ei mochi.. Yan fav ko na snacks dto ,😊

Favorite ko rin ate, lalo 'tong Q mochi!😋 Anong flavor favorite mo dyan?

I would love to have a taste of the wintermelon milk tea. I never had a taste of one before… so yummy.

And it was indeed a nice time for you guys..

Try the wintermelon milk tea, although this one's just a basic milk tea, it can be paired with other sweets like pudding.

Oooh. That’s would be so much nourishing 🥂🥂

Not a fan of the mochi not sure if i have tried it if i did prolly forgot. but OH.. MY.. LORD.. that Katsudon and that tuna salad made me drool and making me want to eat at 1:30am!! 🤦🏼‍♂️🤤 this is such a food porn! hahaha

I have tried different mochis but this one's my favorite! Try mo if you're into sweets.

Hahahaha! IKR! While writing this blog, I can't help but crave din!

I tried pochi? Hahaha hard to read into blogs sometimes during late night especially when i get to browse on food haha bat kasi ang sarap kumain! !Pizza

Di pa ako nakakain sa Restaurant nayan. Mukang masasarap mga pagkain nila. Enjoy na enjoy niyo yung mga foods nila.

You should try it sometimes, especially if you're into Japanese Food!

Nakakatakam naman. I wonder what's the taste of Almond Pudding aside from being sweet. The presentation is nice. I feel like I wanted to try this dessert. I always like desserts. For me this is the most exciting part of the meal.☺️

It's not that sweet hehe, but the mochis are superb! If you have the same dessert store nearby, you should try it!

Oh I hope I can try, soon☺️

Diko alam existence ng resto na yan coz er don't have that here huhue charrr haha. Seriously mukhang yum ang mga foodams. Kaso yummy din ang price nila aguyy. 1k is not kasya pala if kakain jan no, pero sulit naman UwU.

Hahaha yummy nga rin ang price! Tara na here sa Manila, Ruffa!

Anyayaman. Those foods look expensive but can be satisfied with a group of friends. 😍

Di naman siz, ambagan kami dyan haha

Aww, ambagan pala. Kala ko each of you tig iisa nung order haha

How much would a sake cost over there?Just found out there in your post, $3.29 is sooo reasonable and so much cheaper than where I live 😅. I can also relate of forgetting to take picture after eating them. Sometimes I am too conscious of not living the stereotype but eh, if it's a beautiful one, I make sure to take pictures of it.

It's just $3.21! I think it depends on the resto though but this one has a cheaper price than the others plus it tastes sooo good! How much does sake cost in your area?

I only found bottled ones usually and they cost from $40 to $80/bottle depending on the brand. So, it only makes sense drinking it with friends here to share the cost😅. This reminds me where I really think so hard yesterday just to get a beer which was would cost me $5/can.

Both di ko pa nakakainan. We dine in a resto recently ( post will be made in the future pag sinipag na) Japanese din yung nag pe perform yung nagluluto pa masarap naman.

Mochi parang ang sarap nya is it the same as buchi sa atin?>

Ohhh, looking forward to that! I wonder what resto yun.

Masarap young mochi, depende sa flavor. I don't think they're the same tho. I like Mochi better hahaha may bias.

😍😍😍 I LOVE JAPANESE FOOD!!
I only experienced sumosam though

I would love to try out a new japanese restaurant to eat such as this, never really tried sake which makes me curious of the taste but when you explained it 😆 I only drank gin mixed with juice so i can't imagine the flavor nyahaha

Also that almond pudding with q mochi looks delicious! 😍

Sumosam is a good resto too!

I think you'll like Yaku's House Sake! You don't drink gin without the juice? That's what this sake tastes like.
