Todas las primaveras reviso mi guardarropa en busca de que me falta y que me sobra, por ejemplo, me encargo de sacar prendas viejas (las telas de calidad cada vez son más difíciles de conseguir, así que por más que yo haga mi ropa no consigo que dure más de un año en algunos casos) y hacer una lista mental de que necesito para el verano.

Every spring I go through my wardrobe to see what I need and what I have too much of. For example, I make sure to get rid of old clothes (quality fabrics are increasingly difficult to find, so even though I make my own clothes, they don't last more than a year in some cases) and make a mental list of what I need for summer.

Algo que me pasa ahora es que estoy en modo usar tops, pero no cualquier tipo de top sino uno que hice yo hace tiempo y me gusta mucho, porque es versátil queda bien con faldas, con pantalones largos y cortos, queda bien con todo.

Something that's happening to me now is that I'm in top-wear mode, but not just any kind of top, but one that I made a while ago and I really like it, because it's versatile, it looks good with skirts, with long and short pants, it looks good with everything.

Había hecho tres cortes de este top, y por primera vez ninguno fue en color negro, sino que es en gris, en verde y en celeste y todos en telas diferentes, el turquesa es un rib, es firme, elástico y tiene canales, el verde es un poliéster elástico, pero que es bastante respirable, y el gris es un algodón mezcla, el peor de todos y ya verán por qué.

I had made three cuts of this top, and for the first time none were in black, but rather in gray, green and light blue and all in different fabrics, the turquoise one is a rib, it is firm, elastic and has channels, the green one is an elastic polyester, but it is quite breathable, and the gray one is a cotton blend, the worst of all and you will see why.

Coser estos tops es muy fácil en general, se cosen primero los hombros, solo use overlock para las costuras.

Sewing these tops is generally very easy; the shoulders are sewn first, just use an overlock machine for the seams.

Luego los costados, en este paso ya tenemos el 50% de las costuras totales listas.

Next, the sides; at this stage, we already have 50% of the total seams completed.

Después yo coso las tiras que serán cuello, sisas y a veces ruedo, pero esta vez fue cuello y sisas en ambos casos.

Then I sew the strips that will be the neck, armholes and sometimes the hem, but this time it was the neck and armholes in both cases.

En problema en el gris es que el algodón de este estilo se enrula en los bordes hacia adentro, no es un gran problema, solo hay que coser en pequeños tramos e ir acomodando de a poco, pero fue muy molesto, de esta tela tengo bastante y quiero usarla, pero siempre es un gran dolor de cabeza.

The problem with the gray one is that this style of cotton curls inwards at the edges. It's not a huge problem; you just have to sew in small sections and adjust it little by little. But it was very annoying. I have quite a bit of this fabric and I want to use it, but it's always a big headache.

Por suerte no tarde tanto, pero comparado con el top verde me llevo mucho más tiempo del que me gustaría.

Luckily it didn't take that long, but compared to the green top it took me much longer than I would like.

Para el ruedo lo tuve que planchar con vapor varias veces, por eso en algunas fotos puede verse mojado, ya que el truco que hago para coser es doblar el ruedo primero hacia adentro y después hacia afuera y coser por el borde con overlock.

I had to steam iron the hem several times, that's why it may look wet in some photos, since the trick I use to sew is to fold the hem first inwards and then outwards and sew along the edge with an overlock machine.

El top verde tuvo el mismo procesó, primero hombros, luego costado y luego las tiras.

The green top went through the same process: first the shoulders, then the side, and then the straps.

En este caso hice cuello y sisas más ajustado, porque este top iría muy muy al cuerpo, pero quedo bien.

In this case I made the neck and armholes tighter, because this top would be very close to the body, but it turned out well.

Por momentos temí que no quedara bien, las tiras de la sisa eran muy finitas, pero están decentes.

At times I was afraid it wouldn't turn out well, the armhole straps were very thin, but they're decent.

El bajo lo realice igual, aunque se movió un poco la tela y no quedo del todo parejo, pero se puede disimular muy fácilmente, pero es algo que me pasa con este truco para hacer los ruedos.

I did the hem the same way, although the fabric shifted a bit and it wasn't completely even, but it can be easily disguised, but it's something that happens to me with this trick for making hems.

Esto completa la trilogía de tops que se suman a mi guardarropa este verano, tengo que hacer la trilogía de musculosas ya que saque algunas de mi guardarropa y otras simplemente ya no me gusta cómo me quedan, seguro sume faldas y algún que otro short, ya que no tengo tantas prendas de abajo cortas y necesito algunas para ir al trabajo, pero eso será en otra ocasión.

This completes the trilogy of tops that I'm adding to my wardrobe this summer. I have to do the same with tank tops since I've taken some out of my closet and others I simply don't like how they fit me anymore. I'll probably add skirts and some shorts, since I don't have that many short bottoms and I need some for work, but that will be for another time.
