Introducing Our New Editor – Powered by Tiptap
Hey PeakD Users!!
We’re super excited to share a big update we’ve been working on for a while: a brand new rich visual text editor for your favorite decentralized social media app and with some time and creativity we built on the Tiptap framework! We were able to Customize it to work on the Hive blockchain experience.
We know many of you have gotten very used to doing your own markdown formatting on posts over the years. However it's a unique skillset and we want a system that works for people from all walks of life. Maybe you will enjoy it yourself.
What’s New?
The new editor is designed to feel effortless but powerful whether you’re crafting long-form content or sharing quick updates. It combines the best of WYSIWYG editing with Markdown support, all in a clean, block-based interface that works beautifully on both desktop and mobile.
Here’s what you can now do with our upgraded editor:
- Clean and minimal writing experience
- Optimized for mobile 📱 – post from anywhere, easily
- Future default on mobile – This editor is set to replace the current mobile editor, so now’s the perfect time to get familiar
- Block-based editing with dynamic menus – intuitive, contextual controls appear when and where you need them
- Dynamic floating toolbar 🛠️ – lightweight, always within reach
- Easy drag-and-drop ↕️ – reorder content blocks with a simple drag
- WYSIWYG with Markdown support – write with formatting or use plain text/Markdown, both just work

Why Tiptap?
Tiptap is an open-source editor framework we chose because it’s:
- Modular and highly customizable
- Flexible enough to customize for Hive needs
- We could grow it and customize it with your feedback and Hive-specific needs
- Perfect for combining the best of WYSIWYG and Markdown workflows
- Built with performance and extensibility in mind
Still in Development
The new editor is live and ready, but it’s also still improving. That means:
- We’re actively polishing and improving based on your feedback
- You might encounter a few bugs or rough edges
- Your voice directly helps shape the writing experience on PeakD!

Try It Out!
Head over to the post creation screen and click no the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
Select in the menu the VISUAL option
The menu has memory on your device and should remember next time you work on a post.
You can even choose to not see the preview side by side since it's not really needed for the VISUAL EDITOR
For this choose "Use top-down preview"
