After finishing my long night shift, I was looking for a delicious breakfast menu, it doesn't have to be expensive and you have to go to a restaurant. Street food is the best choice too. After returning from work I went to a noodle outlet on the side of the road. A delicious breakfast can raise the spirit to get through the day.
The name of the outlet is Mie Balap Bang Hendra.
This food outlet is located on Jl. Mandala By Pass No.69 Mandala, Kota Medan right on the roadside. I know this place from my friend. Mie balap translates to “racing noodles” in English. Sounds funny and strange, racing noodles are fried noodles cooked in a simple and quick way. This food is quite popular in my area as a breakfast menu. Many sell this kind of breakfast menu on the roadside. The cooking place is at the front so that visitors can see the cooking process directly. You could come earlier to see how they cook. It's like a cooking show with the distinctive sound of a wok and a spatula. But the cook will cook in a large pan so that we as customers don’t have to wait too long to get our noodles.
The Look
There are two types of fried noodles on offer such as rice noodles and vermicelli with a choice of egg toppings or seafood. There are regular and jumbo portions. My order was the mixed fried noodles (kewtiau and vermicelli) seafood regular portion. It cost IDR 20k (1.2 USD). No need to wait long for my order to arrive. The smell was so good, the seafood toppings were best, there were fish balls, shrimp, and squid. Not forgetting the shrimp crackers as a complement.
It tasted very good with a smoky aroma and fragrance of spring onions mixed with a savory and salty taste. If you want spicy, you can add chili sauce that they made.
One plate of racing noodles can give you the energy to face the day.
