What if today we turn free-range chicken into something unusual? Usually at home, free-range chicken is always made into curry or rendang, but this time I'm going to make it different from usual. Stepping out of my comfort zone, since my mom is tired of eating the same old free-range chicken, today I'm going to try making it into something different at home. Namely, a savory and delicious sweet and spicy dish.

This sweet and spicy chicken is a simple dish, but the combination of common spices makes it even more delicious and different from the usual. Everyone will surely love this combination. My husband and mother, who are lovers of free-range chicken, say that this will be our special menu if I manage to make them ask for seconds when breaking their fast later. Well, instead of being curious, let's take a look at the recipe.

Ingredients

Main ingredients

500 grams of free-range chicken
1 lime
½ tablespoon of salt
30 grams of palm sugar
1 onion
2 tablespoons of chili sauce

Spice paste

100 grams red chili peppers
2 tomatoes
5 cloves garlic
5 cloves shallots

Preparation

Prepare the chicken and marinate it with salt and lime juice for about 10 minutes.

While waiting for the chicken to marinate, prepare the fine spices. To prevent the chili from smelling pungent, steam all the ingredients first until soft.

Cool the steamed ingredients briefly, then blend until smooth. Don't forget to slice the onions.

Fry the chicken until golden brown, but not too brown, or it will become too tough.

Cook the blended spices with a little oil, then add palm sugar, salt, a little oyster sauce, and chili sauce. The oyster sauce is optional, but I can't skip the chili sauce and oyster sauce.

Add the onion, then add the fried chicken and cook briefly so the spices can soak in.

Serve on a serving plate, then enjoy with white or red rice. Experience the unique flavor of this free-range chicken, where savory, sweet, and spicy flavors blend perfectly. Everything tastes absolutely delicious, and this is our family's favorite. In our opinion, free-range chicken isn't just for curry. When fried and made into a sweet and spicy sambal like this, it's also incredibly tasty.

Here are a few tips for you to use young free-range chicken for frying like this. This will affect the texture of the chicken, making it less tough. Young chicken will have a softer and super tender texture after frying. I think free-range chicken lovers will really enjoy this dish.
