I was planning on approaching this prompt in a totally different dimension, considering an experience I had last month, but seeing many tags and comments about me and Vickoly on his entry, I have decided to shed more light on what a healthy competition looks like in this blockchain. Perhaps there will be an opportunity for me to talk about my recent experience on this topic some other time, but for me, let's go practical. 😍

You know, people watch every move we make. At times our actions and reactions are taken notice of by many people around us, and you may not be aware of it. Reading through what some people said about me under Vickoly's post, I was like, Wow, so people have been watching how I move along with Vickoly in this space. Good enough; the competition hasn't been an unhealthy one but a very positive and healthy competition, so permit me to say that I am so proud of my personality, hehehe.
The truth is that toxic competition would never bring growth to anyone; rather, it brings bitterness, burnout, tension, jealousy, resentment, and subjecting yourself to unnecessary pressure in the quest to outshine your competitor, and how does that help anyone?. The last time I checked, a healthy competition brings about growth, it motivates, it encourages one another, and it also helps sharpen each other. Just like they say, iron sharpens iron.
In my early beginning of Hive, I felt like I was in a strange land until I met Vickoly through this same Hive learners community as we interacted with each other via our posts. Gradually we took the interactions to Discord, just like he said in his post, that whenever I see an error in his content, I draw his attention in DM to make corrections immediately. I believe our primary purpose of coming to this space is to add value to ourselves.
Sometimes, it takes people or a person to help you reach your destination on time. I saw the zeal Vickoly has in growing his account, and I drew myself closer to him, no shame about it. I wasn't jealous of the many upvotes he usually gets but always asked him questions that could help me grow as well. I never knew it was possible for someone to be publishing a post on Hive daily until Vic and I talked about it, and every day, he will either ask me or I will ask him if we have posted and engaged for the day. Which community are we posting in today? Any contests? Any update? Did you power up? How many hives are powering up this month? What about that token on Hive Engine? Are you buying? What do you know about it? What happened? Why are you powering down? And many more ways we kept checking on each other and growing together, celebrating our milestones—it's been amazing.

A lot of people ask me how I stay consistent on Hive considering my mom's duty, but let me give you the clue now: it's been possible because of Vickoly and other of my friends who are indirectly pushing me to be accountable and to ensure we keep growing to achieve our long-term goal on Hive. It's a win-win.
I have also been in a healthy competition with Princess Busayo in this chain, where we targeted accumulating 1k liquid Hive through our HBD rewards. The way we check on each other to ensure we are still on the same page is amazing. Even when I had a need to sell my HBDs instead of buying hives with it, Princess showed much concern and encouraged me to face whatever that is facing me and that there will be another time to keep accumulating. I wasn't envious of her that she kept the streak and I couldn't at that point, but rather I celebrated with her for pulling the bull by the horn.
The result of healthy competition has been evident in my hive growth, and I don't see myself getting envious of any hiver tomorrow and thus subjecting myself to unnecessary pressure to be like him or her.

I usually remind myself to focus on improving myself, move at my pace, and allow things to unfold for me naturally. Life is a journey, and I shouldn't subject myself to tension all in the name of outshining others.
If we really understand what a healthy competition is and apply it in our lives, growth will be inevitable.
This is my response to the #HiveLearners community contest on the topic titled, HEALTHY COMPETITION.
