One of the simple things we enjoy making at home is suman malagkit. It may look easy to prepare, but making it from scratch takes patience, effort, and teamwork. This time, we decided to make our own homemade suman using simple ingredients that are easy to find at home. We prepared glutinous rice, fresh coconut, coconut milk or gata, sugar, a little salt, and banana leaves for wrapping.

We started by preparing the fresh coconut. We grated the coconut meat carefully and squeezed it to get the creamy coconut milk. We made enough gata because this would be an important part of making our suman flavorful and creamy. We also prepared the sugar and a small amount of salt to balance the sweetness.

While the coconut milk was being prepared, we washed the glutinous rice several times. Washing the rice is important because we wanted it to be clean before cooking. After washing it, we set it aside for a while while the coconut milk was brought to a gentle boil.

When the gata started to boil, we added a little sugar and salt and mixed it well. The kitchen slowly filled with the delicious aroma of coconut milk. Once the mixture was ready, we carefully added the washed glutinous rice into the boiling gata. We kept stirring it so the rice would absorb the coconut milk evenly and would not stick too much at the bottom of the pot.

As the rice continued to cook, we waited until it became sticky and tender. The mixture became thicker as the glutinous rice absorbed the creamy gata. We made sure that it was not too dry because we wanted the suman to have a soft and slightly sticky texture.

After cooking the rice, we prepared the banana leaves. We cleaned and softened the leaves so they would be easier to fold and wrap. This part also required patience because each portion of the cooked malagkit needed to be placed properly in the banana leaf. We scooped a small amount of the mixture, placed it in the middle of the leaf, and carefully folded and wrapped it.

One by one, we finished wrapping the suman. Seeing all the neatly wrapped pieces lined up on the table made us feel happy because we could see the result of our effort. It was a simple homemade activity, but it became more enjoyable because we worked together.

Making suman malagkit reminded us that delicious food does not always need expensive ingredients. Sometimes, the simplest ingredients can create something special when prepared with care and love. The creamy coconut milk, sweet glutinous rice, and fresh banana leaves gave the suman its familiar homemade taste and aroma.

After everything was prepared, we cooked the wrapped suman until the rice became fully tender and firm. When it was finally ready, we let it cool for a little while before enjoying it. The soft and sticky texture, combined with the sweetness and rich coconut flavor, made all our effort worthwhile.

Homemade suman malagkit sounds wonderful! It may look simple, but I know it takes patience, effort, and teamwork to prepare from scratch. Using glutinous rice, fresh coconut, coconut milk, sugar, salt, and banana leaves make it extra special. Nothing beats the taste of traditional food made with love at home.

Yes, exactly! 😊 Mas special talaga ang homemade suman, especially kapag made with love and effort.

How many post daily do you reblog?

You reblogged 4 of my posts 6h ago and then you reblogged 65 other posts lol.

I scrolled for long time to see my posts lol. You know for what rebloggs are? To let your followers read posts of other people. With that much rebloggs daily is impossible to even scroll all you reblogged posts.

Do you even read those posts?

Second thing, I invited you to write post for the contest, instead of that you just used tag for contest.

Thank you for pointing that out. I understand what you mean, and I appreciate your honest feedback. 😊 I know I’ve been reblogging quite a lot, and I’ll try to be more selective and make sure I’m actually reading and appreciating the posts I reblog.

About the contest, I’m sorry if I misunderstood your invitation. I thought using the contest tag was enough, but I understand now that you were inviting me to write an actual post for the contest. I’ll keep that in mind next time. Thank you for explaining it to me. 🙏

Contest is about reintroduction yourself.
Your post is about making food.

So misunderstanding.
Yeah you should first read posts you want to reblog and that would be nice!

Thanks for understanding.
