Hello aseanhivers! What is your favorite snack in this season? Today I'm going to share to you my boiled snack. We had able to harvest again white young corn on the other corn field of my father and this is almost hard to eat but we push to boiled it.
These are the young white corn we harvested together with my husband. This is the second time of harvest and usually sellers boiled it directly but for me I prefer to remove the skin of the corn because in this way it's faster to be cooked and during the testing stage it's accessible and can avoid burns. My father said when harvesting young corns the clue is the hair. Once the hair is dark it means it's good to harvest. If the hair is kind of yelloww or gold it's too young not good for boiled but it's good for food recipe like chopseuy. And if the hair is too dark and dry it's not good to harvest because that is very hard. Even how much you boiled it, it won't get softer.
After removing the hard skin of this. I placed it all in a large container to wash it thoroughly.
Then I let my husband prepare the firewood and light it so it's easy for me to start. It's better to cook it using wood because it consumes so much gas if we are going to use a stove and this would take time to boil I think it's almost an hour.
Then I place everything on the pot. Also water. The amount of water is also how high the level of the corn on the pot. I also put a little pinch of salt. Little trivia here! The boiled water of the corn can be a good juice to cleanse our body. That's why I always secure one glass of it. I'm sorry I don't have the cooked picture because everyone is so excited to eat even me, after an hour I tested it then it's good and we ate it directly. We also called our neighbors and shoot I forgot to capture picture because of excitement! But anyways this experience was really great. I had eaten young corn this year only once. Big thanks to my father for having a very big farm of fruits, vegetables and crops making me try different kinds of foods and recipe. I'm proud I was raised by a farmer: A hardworking farmer in town.
