Random thoughts about gamification here on any Hive platform...

Earning badges and what not can be extremely addictive. And there is quite the sense of pride when you earn or unlock certain hidden ones.

And I know we try to stay away from monetary rewards because it attracts the clown show accounts...

But there has to be a way to make this place just addictive to use, and make it feel like you want to stay here every day and create content, and engage.

If not upvotes etc, what would entice you stick around and be more active?

Interaction. Entirely the reason I remained active on here after dropping off elsewhere when all my friends moved on/stopped posting/"everyone else" stopped commenting except on huge accounts hoping to get noticed. But I'm old and don't count :)

Maybe temporarily delegation of tribe tokens
Measuring the gamification in shorter period like votes per 7 days or something and than get share of reward of the Projekt or something, or Projekt pool.

Exhaust works like this. You’re calories burned get ranked over a week and each rank gets its share from reward of the project, or something like that

You WANT Hive to addict people, like Facebook who has recently been sued and lost for being addictive? That being said, rather than badges I'd rather have more options to individualize my profile, so it can be used as a landing site for my brand...

I like the way the "gamification" aspect is available via 3rd party sites such as Hiveword (which I play and share here with one click). Also, for me, upvoting people who comment on my snaps, and upvoting a bunch of other snaps is what keeps me coming back, as well as the design and "vibe" of the platform itself. I guess I'm a Happy Snapier! 🙂

I like the badges, but hivebuzz has problems. It's bland, you just get the badge and nothing else. As you said, unlocking a feature would be exciting.

And I didn't get any notification when I got the dolphin badge so I didn't know my level changed for a while.

Right, imagine you get a badge and it does something new. And you aren't sure what it is, until you unlock it. Then the rumors spread about how to get it.....We could gamify this entire experience here.

And the problem: all this to happen needs many frontends devs to cooperate so these unlockable functions work everywhere. For the secret mechanics they even need offchain communication. @hivebuzz could do it with it's established presence but they have financial problems.

For me personally...I love the leaderboard. I love earning 'points' for being active, and if you combine that with some kind of unlock or something, more features etc...I think that could be something people would enjoy.
