Well you got me! I got baited into believing an actual Waffle House was coming to town. I miss that place as well but the ones in Texas also had a reputation for being where all the best fights would happen at 2-4am.

People that have never been to a Waffle House and aren't really even sure what it is have heard about it being a place where fights happen regularly. It's kind of a global icon.
Here in Da Nang we have 2 locations near my house where fights regularly happen and they are both 24-hour places. One is a sportsbar and the other is a 24-hour pizza place. It's the booze, not the surroundings and I kind of admire the patience of the people that work there because they don't have any security or any way of making the fights stop once they begin. I hope they get paid a bit more for working these hours.
