The first time I entered this cafe, I felt incredibly afraid to spend money. That was the first time I'd ever felt truly afraid to spend money in Bangkok. Seriously, you know Bangkok is incredibly attractive and a city with affordable food. But this was the first time I'd felt truly afraid.
Maybe it was the slogan "World Class Thai Tea," as if I try this dessert and felt on par with Blackpink's Lisa. It little so weird, and I felt compelled to try it! It would be an interesting and unforgettable experience.
Usually, the Thai tea I buy is Cha Tra Mue, and I was curious about something a little more upscale. So, was it a good idea to choose this place to experience a local Thai dessert with World Class status?
I only tried one menu item. This one said to be their favorite, but it turn out there were more options than that. However, I little afraid of going too crazy and eat a dessert full of sugar and calories. It was their best-selling item, and when I saw someone buying it, I was terrified. Not because of the price, but because it was so much in one large bowl.
So, I bought this cup with shaved iced Thai tea and a white chocolate topping. I just wanted to know the basics of Thai tea here—was the so-called world-class tea really true? Of course, I wanted to try something interesting and new.
I found it delicious, the Thai tea was stronger than the cha tra mue. In every bite, I tasted a much stronger flavor than the Thai tea, specifically the creaminess of the milk. Interestingly, because they were both strong, they were perfectly balanced on the tongue, especially when I accidentally bit into the white chocolate. It all turned out delicious.
Because this a new item, and no other cha tra mue merchant have anything like it, it was unfortunately impossible to compare. Yes, the two are very different. Again, this was because I was looking for something that was popular with locals.
It's quite interesting because this vendor is only found in major malls in Bangkok. I bought it at Central World, not far from the Pratunam area. It's worth a try if you're curious about a different Thai tea flavor. It's not just a regular drink, but a Thai tea dessert.
At 165 baht, it's quite expensive for a glass of cha tra mue. But, when on vacation, never compare your money because vacation is the time to spend it, right?
