Calming herbal tea – a simple discovery that truly works

Hello everyone,

This new recipe for calming tea is a discovery of my colleague and friend from work, who has noticeable dark circles under his eyes and struggles with insomnia. He works a very stressful job in a special education school. I decided to try making it myself, and I can honestly say: it really works.
I also live under constant stress — surrounded by high school students during classes, and at home by my two little ones, aged 2 and 5. If you feel tense, tired, and unable to fall asleep quickly, I highly recommend this combination of dried plant parts:

Lemon balm (dried leaves)

Mint (dried leaves)

Fennel (dried seeds)

Aronia (dried berries)

Plantain (dried leaves)

Lavender (dried buds)-I have separated it so that you can recognize it better and to highlight its important feature.

Nettle (dried chopped leaves)
Use one small teaspoon (about 3g) of the mixture.

I heated 0.6 liters of water in a kettle to boiling point.

Then I placed the herbal mixture into an empty 2.5 dl cup and poured the hot water over it.

I let it steep for 5 minutes — no longer, so the tea wouldn’t change its taste and become bitter. Then I strained it the way my late grandmother used to do.

When the tea became lukewarm and slightly cooled, I added one small teaspoon of honey and stirred. You can adjust sweetness to your liking.

Benefits of the herbs:

Lemon balm relaxes the nervous system and induces mild drowsiness.

Mint soothes both the stomach and the nerves.

Fennel supports digestion and helps regulate bowel movements, while adding a naturally sweet aroma.

Plantain has antiseptic and calming properties.

Aronia supports healthy heart function.

Nettle improves blood quality and supports circulation.
And especially lavender — its dried buds have strong calming and mood-lifting properties. Its scent even repels moths, which is why it’s often kept in closets in small sachets. Just smell a bag of lavender, take a deep breath, and you’ll already feel more relaxed.

I’ve just finished my tea while writing this blog before bedtime, and I’m ready to wake up refreshed and well-rested.

Let me know your impressions if you try it and whether it helped you too.

Until next time — cheers and stay well.

I could use some of this tea. I like the combination. I should definitely try it, and so should my son.

Try it, you won't regret it, with a little honey or other additives, a drop of lemon or a piece of ginger enhances the healing properties

Great recipe! Sometimes we need natural drinks that help us relax and sleep well.

Thanks @carisma77. We should sometimes turn to Mother Nature, from whom we came, and take advantage of all her blessings with which she gifts us.
