Hi there. In this food post, I visit Budapest Restaurant in Toronto. After some research and wanting a schnitzel, I try out this place. Budapest Restaurant is located outside of the downtown core in Toronto and is more on the east side of Toronto near Greektown.

Budapest Hungarian Restaurant in Toronto is a family-owned Hungarian restaurant. They offer traditional Hungarian cuisine and have other European dishes. I went here for schnitzel. There are not many places in Toronto that offer schnitzel.
Wiener Schnitzel Dish
After asking some clarifying questions with the waitress, I went with the Wiener Schnitzel dish. The meat is pork and the price was 20.99 CAD. If you wanted Chicken Schnitzel it would be an extra 2 CAD. With the schnitzel you had a choice of sides from:
Fries
Mashed Potatoes
Dumplings
The dumplings were not like Chinese soup dumplings (Xiaolongbaos) or Japanese Gyozas. These dumplings were more like egg noodles.
The schnitzel is pretty big. Almost 80% of the plate. Napkins, salt and pepper are provided on your table. I thought the schnitzel in taste was bland but had a good crunch on the outside. A good schnitzel overall.
With the dumplings, they were boiled and chewy. What made the egg dumplings good was the sauce. I am glad I chose the dumplings as the side dish.

The food was not amazing but it was good. Service was welcoming and friendly. Prices of dishes are noticeably cheaper outside of the Toronto core.
This place was a good alternative to franchise restaurants, bars and large banquet style restaurants. As much as I like Chinese dimsum, Cantonese style restaurants, Ramen noodle shops, there is something pleasant in dining at a smaller neighbourhood friendly European restaurant like Budapest restaurant. I'll keep this place in my rotating options when I visit Toronto.
