Hello Asean Hive Community
Today I am sharing you guys a funny story based on my experience. Some people are really clueless about picking a place to hold a meeting, especially business meeting. It's weird, but it is what happens out there. Some people are really clueless about how to pick a good place.
Last month I had an appointment, a real important one because it was about 650.000 USD business deal. I was selling a warehouse and production yard, so that number should be a small one.

I have a custom or habit that I always try to come up earlier than the people I will meet. So on time is a condition that I have to beat, by coming ten to fifteen minutes earlier. If it is necessary I will come thirty minutes earlier.
Because I came earlier than my guess, who actually the host who picked the place, I got a table for us and ordered an ice tea.

The tea tasted great. It used rock sugar or rock candy, not some regular granulated sugar. I liked the rock sugar taste, or better to say that I was not fond of the granulated sugar taste. However it was not the tea that brought a headache to me.

The place was really packed with people, and as I needed to que to get a table, many people were queuing behind me. In rough guess, maybe that time they had 4 ques behind.
Those people kept looking at me sitting on an empty table. Some asked me if I could share a table with them, because they came in pair and I took a table for four people. I declined them, but soon another people asked for the same.

I felt that I had to order something more else those people would ask the staffs to kick me out from my table. After I got the third request, I ordered a chicken soup there. The place was known for their beef soup, but I just wanted to get the chicken soup which should be lighter.
The taste was very good however I did not have any thought about taking shots or made some story about it. I was busy pretending texting some people and pretending to phone some people. I did what I had to do best, to eat as slow as possible.
However luck was not on my side. The host was late for more than thirty minutes, and we met on the most packed restaurant at 12:00 which was the peak of lunch time. so at 12:30, my drink dried out and my soup was already finished.

I had no other choice, I had to make another order. This time I got their famous beef soup. The taste was not great, not because of the ingredient nor the flavor. I ate that soup while some people giving me some death stare because that time the que grew for about more than 8 guests.
At 12:40 they came, I was very relief because I knew well that I could not eat for another bowl of soup. So the meeting started by they had their lunch and I watched them eating.
Anyway I did not blame them. Most Indonesian just are like them, always come late. And if they think they are in higher position, let say in this case they are the buyer, they will feel they are entitled to be late and do whatever they like about it.
However, I know well they do not know how to pick a meeting place. The place should be a quiet café or a coffee shop, because the talk is the most important thing, not the food.
Ok that's my story today. free to leave any comment below. Thanks for coming here
