For the last running month I haven't posted anything about one dollar lunch saga... yet... The reason is very simple, it is Ramadhan month, people are fasting here. Islam is the majority religion in Indonesia, so when Moeslim are fasting, we can say Indonesia is having a mass fasting. The result? Many food stalls and restaurant are closing, or limiting their open hours.
So only a few which are open, and they have less competition and higher cost. Like it or not, they raise their food price. It is the main cause why most Cheap Food are sold higher than usual.
This post is about a lunch that should be a dollar, or maybe less, but right now it is around 1.1 USD. I do not mind about the rise in the price, because they need that money too for the Eid Al Fitr day. They need to pay more to their workers as holiday allowance. It is a custom and it is also the law here, else you can be sued for not respecting religious activity and breaking employment law.
So this was what I should have on a dollar but not. white twirl , yellow twirl and a flat dry towel lol. For Asian and especially south east asian, you can already guess what they are. But for people from other continents, this looks like that, twirl and towel lol.
My dish was a mix rice, a white rice with omelet and stir fried mushroom with an extra of fried chicken intestine. I did not know whether this should be called as junk food or not, a junk food for having chicken intestine, but outside of it, everything looked healthy.
In a glance, both chicken intestine and mushroom looked a bit similar but they were not...
This was the mushroom. It was one of my favorite too. We called this one as Stir Fried Oyster Mushroom. It was easy to make this one, you could search for the recipe on google and you would get tonnes of it. This one had green beans for the dressing, ya we called it dressing because the beans were limited and usually they put some green veggie just for the look.
