Hey lovelies ❤️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog 🤗
For about a month and some weeks, we have been in the mango season in Nigeria and it will be difficult for you not to notice the display of this amazing fruit across your city. You will either see or perceive the sweet scent the moment you step out of your house. This fruit is displayed in different forms in my city from street vendors pushing their wheelbarrows full of yellow ripe mangoes to the ones who hawk on trays on their heads across each streets bringing this beauty to your doorstep. There are some who have a static location where they display theirs in front of the shops or by the roadside to make it easy for passerbys to make purchase.
There are quite a number of mango species in Nigeria and I think it is specific to the geographical location. Some mangoes are big and succulent while some others are small and tasty as well. Some have more juice than than the other while some gets so soft easily and others are best eaten when they are slightly ripe and crunchy. In all of this, each of the species of mangoes have their unique taste. Some of the species of mangoes in Nigeria include kerosene mango, sheri mango, julie mango, Ogbomoso mango, Abuja mango and so much more.
There is a saying that nothing lasts forever and there is another one that says that everything that has a beginning will always have an end. This is the case of mango tree we had in my father’s compound when I was much younger. The tree is huge with every mango season coming with large sweet fruits that we can never get enough of. However, we had to get rid of the tree when my father needed to use the piece of land it was occupying for a building project that was meant to be rented out.
The mango tree was planted by my brother who went through not so difficult phase to get the seeds from one of his classmates in secondary school. According to him he spotted this young man eating a huge mango that requires him to use his two hands to put in his mouth. This is to show how humongous the mango is. So, he had to patiently wait for him to finish eating and requested for the seed that he later planted in our compound. Some years later the tree was standing firm producing big mangoes that my family couldn't have enough of it.
Now that we are in the peak of the mango season, I can't help but think about the varieties of drinks I can make for my family with the abundance of ripe mangoes available. Very soon, I will be sharing a mango juice recipe that is perfect for this season especially the hot weather that is predominant during the afternoon. So, keep it locked on my blog and don't miss out.
In making my juice I may have to buy from the market to be able to get the perfect mangoes for juicing. The specie my landlord have in our compound is the specie that is always crunchy and all so it may not be a perfect fit for making a juice.
So, as you know that mango is a seasonal fruit, ensure that you enjoy it to the fullest while it last. Whether you're plucking some on the tree by yourself or you're buying from the vendors on the streets on in the markets, just make sure you get some and have fun.
