During my business trips in the north of the Iberian Peninsula I have known many good restaurants to eat and, thanks to the culinary richness of Spain, and that increasingly the Spanish hospitality is more city, I have rarely encountered bad restaurants.
A few weeks ago, I was in the province of Cantabria (northern Spain) on business visits, with several visits cancelled and, therefore, at noon I found my work done and I was about to travel back to Asturias. It was at that moment that, consulting an agenda that I have of restaurants that I had rated in other visits as excellent, I decided to go to eat in a town called Prellezo and in particular, in the Parrilla de Prellezo.
To get to this restaurant is necessary to leave the highway A-8 that connects Cantabria with Asturias but I assure you that it is worth it.
It is worth it above all for three reasons.
Magnificent views
This restaurant is located in a privileged area where from its outdoor dining room we can enjoy the green meadows that provide an idyllic image with the high hills of the Picos de Europa in the background. You can enjoy the snows at the top of the mountain range until well into the spring.
Menu
This restaurant offers the option of eating a la carte, mainly grilled meats and fish. On previous occasions I was able to enjoy excellent pork and veal.
But on this last visit, a menu of the day for 20 euros was my choice.
The choice was simply because I saw on the table next to me a very good looking goat cheese salad. And since I sometimes eat by sight, I opted to order the same menu and it really was spectacular.
I loved the taste, the freshness of the vegetables and mainly the very good olive oil that accompanied the salad to dress it. The fact that they bring you an oil in glass and not the plastic containers of other restaurants is a plus for me.
For the second course, I opted for a veal cachopo (two breaded fillets stuffed with ham and cheese). It is a recent typical of the community of Asturias, but really in this restaurant in neighboring Cantabria the selection of meats and cheese was frankly good, giving the dish a good flavor.
The garnish, I really appreciated that they used real potatoes and not precooked potatoes and also that they accompanied with green peppers with a very mild flavor that combined on the palate with the meat of the veal of the cachopo.
Desserts
Undoubtedly, one of the best things about the restaurant are the homemade desserts. The cheesecake was very creamy, at the same time at a cold temperature that was appreciated with the high temperature of the day.
Great service
One of the plus points of this restaurant is that they have a large number of staff that makes the dishes come out quickly and do not unnecessarily delay the time of the meal. This is something I appreciate when I travel alone on business.
In addition, if the restaurant invites you to coffee, what more could I ask for.
That is why I am proud to share this experience and this restaurant for those who can travel between Cantabria and Asturias and wish to have a good culinary experience.
Best regards.
