Some Food Photographs

in Photography Loversyesterday

Photography has always been a quiet passion of mine, but it truly came alive through my love for food. I’m not a professional photographer by any means, but there's something deeply satisfying about capturing the warmth and soul of a freshly prepared meal. Most of the time, I take photos of dishes that are naturally a part of my daily life meals served on my table, often created with love and care.

One of my recent favorites to photograph was a beautiful tray of homemade baklava. This wasn't just any dessert it was a full tray of golden, crispy, syrup-soaked layers of dough made by my mother. Watching her work the delicate phyllo dough, brush each layer with butter, and carefully layer the walnuts was almost meditative. The result was a stunning piece of art that tasted even better than it looked. I took so many pictures of it, from wide angles to detailed close-ups of the glistening syrup. It was more than a dessert; it was a memory, a tradition, a part of my heritage captured through my lens.

Another dish I proudly photographed was my homemade paçanga böreği. I prepared it myself, using pastırma, cheese, and peppers wrapped in yufka and lightly fried until golden. It’s one of those dishes that feels both indulgent and comforting. The crispy exterior and the melty, savory filling make it a joy to both eat and photograph.

Sometimes I prepare simpler dishes or quick meals, and I still make a point to capture them. Even a bowl of freshly chopped salad or a steaming plate of menemen deserves its moment. I believe that even everyday food has a story, and through my photography, I try to tell that story one plate at a time.
