Recently, I read an article, and it was very shocking to see how people use AI to cheat a company and benefit from that. Today, with the help of AI, anything is possible. We can create fake videos and fake photos. The news said that people are using AI to add insects to their food and report that to Zomato to get a refund. Before we go deeper into this subject, let's understand how the refund system works.
I have some experience ordering food using Zomato and Swiggy. I usually do this for office parties. I have not tried applying for any refund for my personal orders. But once my colleague mentioned that it is easy to get a refund by doing some complaint. He gave a few ideas on how the refund can be made, and it is a usual thing, it seems. He also mentioned that he does it most of the time and can easily grab a refund.

It is quite surprising to see a big company having no control over its refund policies. Since food is involved, the company will also have to be very careful, and that can be one reason, and another reason can be use retention. If people start having bitter experiences, they always go to alternative apps to order food. That can be another reason why these companies don't want to negotiate things with their customers and go straight away go for a refund.
But these days, this process is getting a bit tougher, where the company is asking for better proofs and they try to do all the groundwork before they process any refund. This is a valid thing, I would say, and it is also good for both parties. Instead of blindly processing refunds for the complaints, having proof in hand is good. This is usually done only by a few people. Some people, even if they have issues with their food, don't complain and just keep ordering again, and don't bother much.
There are these next-level thinkers who exploit this refund system very often by submitting fake claims. They are the people who just throw stones and see if they get something out of it. Most of the time, they are lucky, but there are some instances where they will have to submit concrete proof,s and that is when they make use of the AI to add some insects or other unwanted items in the food and upload them as proof. There is no way the company can validate this 100%, so the refund gets processed as long as there is proof.
