Today, I revisited the Food Place food court, located at Pavilion Mall. The food court is located beside the Oriental Kopi Restaurant.

This time I ordered Spicy Squid Dosirak from the K Dosirak stall, which cost RM20.00 per box. This Korean-style lunchbox is a complete, colourful tray packed with Stir-fried spicy squid, Spicy Kimchi, Stir-fried potato and fish cake, stir-fried pork sausage slice, Watermelon Slice and Miyeok-guk (Seaweed Soup)

The stir-fried spicy squid (ojingeo-bokkeum, 오징어볶음), a classic Korean dish made with squid cooked in a gochujang-based (fermented chilli paste) sauce with garlic, onions, and sometimes vegetables. It is known for its bold, sweet-spicy, and savoury flavor.

Spicy Squid (Ojingeo-bokkeum, 오징어볶음), originating in coastal regions of Korea, this dish became popular nationwide in the 1960s–70s as seafood distribution improved. It reflects Korea’s love for gochujang-based stir-fries, combining the sea’s freshness with the bold flavors of fermented chili.

Small side dishes are a hallmark of Korean dining. They represent balance in nutrition, variety in texture and taste, and the communal spirit of Korean meals. Dishes like kimchi, stir-fried potatoes, and pan-fried sausages showcase both tradition and adaptation to modern tastes.

This meal is a modern take on this tradition — a complete, balanced set meal bringing together heritage dishes like kimchi and ojingeo-bokkeum with practical, rotating side dishes.
