Hey everyone from Uzbekistan! 🇺🇿
8:30 AM, Tashkent.
We barely stepped out of the taxi, and the smells hit us hard: shashlik, fresh samsa, and something sweet like someone spilled honey into the air. Welcome to Chorsu — the city’s oldest market, where trade has been going on since the 10th century, and your appetite wakes up on its own.
🏛 What does Chorsu look like?
- Giant dome made of concrete and sunshine.
- Two floors of food, spices, and chaos.
- Crowds, but not tourists — locals who know where the best plov is.

🍴 Food stalls: what we devoured
| Dish | Vibe | Price (UZS) |
|---|---|---|
| Lamb shashlik | Juicy, fat dripping down your hands 🔥 | 25,000 |
| Plov with chickpeas & raisins | Rice soaked in oil, just right | 30,000 |
| Pumpkin samsa | Sweet-salty explosion 🤯 | 8,000 |
| Uzbek flatbread | BEST BREAD OF MY LIFE. Thin crust, soft inside, smells like childhood. | 5,000 |
I ate the flatbread with my hands, tearing off chunks. Photos can’t capture it, but trust me: this isn’t bread, it’s art. 😋

🛍 What we bought on the second floor
Mom went full “gotta bring it all home” mode:
- Samarkand pistachios – 3 kg
- Honey-glazed almonds – 1 kg
- Dried apricots – another 2 kg
The seller Abdulla (we’re already on a first-name basis) gave us a 20% discount and treated us to tea. He said: "For guests — always a discount." ☕

🎯 Chorsu life hacks
- Come hungry — food is 3x cheaper than in cafés.
- Haggle — but with a smile.
- Bring small change — cards aren’t accepted everywhere.
- Don’t photograph people without permission — but if you ask, they’ll let you try everything for free 😏

Day summary:
- Walked: 4 km around the market
- Eaten: 3 types of plov + 2 flatbreads
- Bought: 6 kg of nuts & dried fruits
- Gained: +2 kg on the belly 😂
