This past Sunday we had another family day, celebrating a birthday and as we were 10 people, it was a nice day and too hot, we decided to go to a restaurant. After some thinking and logistics, we picked the Hunter Vip, which is not new to me as I've been there last year with German guests and knew what I'm going to find.
Unfortunately I had to pay attention to a lot of people and with all the excitement and organizing things, i forgot to take photos of the place outside. After we left the restaurant, we asked a lady to take a group photo and with all the place picking and arranging people, I forgot. So this post is not going to be pinned on the map this time. Maybe next time.
If I were to rate the interior decoration, I'd give it a 6 out of 10, as there are plenty of kitschy things, like this tree, which would have no place there in my eyes, but what can you do. As you can see, it's pretty rustic as it's called Hunter Vip.
There are vinyl records hanging from the ceiling, which I'm not sure what to think of honestly.
The bar area looks really good, but it's not the kind of bar area to sit there, like in clubs. It's for them to mix drinks and store what they have to, plus the computer is there.
The menu looked very professional from the outside. There are places where you don't even know how to avoid touching it, but not here. The only thing I didn't like was there were no photos, so everything was left for your imagination, but let's get to it, let me show you the yummy dishes we had.
This was a vegetable soup, very delicious I was told. Looked good I must admit.
This was a lentil soup, which looked good, but I was told it's not ready and had to wait to be decorated.
🙁 I liked the previous version more, but it wasn't my soup.
This was a vegetable soup with beef. I loved the plates. As I mentioned, we were 10 and there were at least 6 types of plates on the table and looked good.
This was mine, the vegetable soup with beef, but with sour cream. Not exactly a dish for those on diet 😬 but once in a blue moon, it's ok 😜
Let's continue with the main courses and let me tell you from the start, how mush I disliked the green veggie stripe on the plates, as decoration. I'd not be against it, but the way they did it was not really appealing. Regardless, this was chicken breast with mushroom sauce and mashed potato.
Grilled fish and veggies.
Chicken liver with polenta. The polenta looks like a layered cake. I've never seen anything like that, but looks really good and it's a good idea.
This was a chicken breast, sausage stew, with baked polenta, cheese and sunny egg. Although I know all the components, I've never heard of this dish. It looks good though, so I'm going to try it out one nice day.
A huuuge rib with potato and sauce. This is not for dieters either, but it's calling my name now as I'm hungry 😆
This is a dish that's name I have to explain to you. It's a known dish among Hungarians and Romanians, but its name is Hungarian and used by both. It's called "borzoska" and it refers to a state in which your hair is like on "crazy hair day", when you don't comb your hair, or what you look like when you wake up.
It is basically a Wiener schnitzel, topped with sour cream and grated cheese. It's a very delicious and heavy dish. I had it twice I think, but it's too heavy for me and the portion is also too big.
Simple and delicious carbonara.
This was mine, a simple chicken paprikash with mashed potatoes. It was a bit salty, but good.
Not that there was room left for dessert, but we had to try out what they were offering. So this is the strudel, a type of layered pastry with apple filling and vanilla cream. I have to try this next time.
I think this was a cheese cake, but I'm not sure 😬
And here's the queen of all desserts 😆. It's called "papanas", it's a Romanian dish and it's very delicious.
Papanași is a Romanian and Moldovan traditional fried or boiled pastry made from fresh-cheese (brânza proaspătă or urdă) dough. It is usually served topped with cream (smântână) and fruit confit. source
Must confess, I had to ask for help as I could not eat it. It was too much for me, but it was heavenly delicious.
This was today's food porn edition. I hope you could find something you'd like to taste :)
