Living on a farm has taught our family many valuable lessons, especially the importance of being resourceful. When you live close to nature, you learn to appreciate every harvest and make the most of what is available around you.

As I shared in one of my previous posts, my husband harvested a bananas from our backyard. We were grateful because the harvest was plentiful. Since many people in our community were interested in buying fresh bananas, we decided to sell some of them. We carefully packed the bananas and sold each bundle for 25 pesos.

What made this experience even more special was seeing my daughter become excited about the idea of selling. She happily helped us prepare the bananas and was eager to share them with our neighbors. For me, it was more than just earning a little extra income. It became a learning opportunity for her. At a young age, she is beginning to understand the value of hard work, farming, and helping the family. She excited to buy her snacks for tomorrow opening of class.

Of course, we did not forget my in-laws. They enjoy eating bananas every day, so we prepared some bundles especially for them. Sharing our harvest with family is something we always try to do whenever we are blessed with an abundant harvest. We always share to them whatever we harvested in the farm.

After packing the bananas, my husband and daughter rode the motor to deliver the orders around our community. While they were away, I stayed at home and gathered fresh sweet potato tops from our backyard garden. We have plenty growing there, and they are one of my favorite vegetables because they are easy to grow and very nutritious.

I prepared a simple sweet potato tops salad using freshly picked leaves, onions, tomatoes, and a little bagoong. It is one of those simple farm meals that never fails to satisfy us.

By the time my husband and daughter returned from their deliveries, breakfast was already prepared. We enjoyed freshly harvested bananas together with the sweet potato tops salad. It was a simple meal, but it felt special because almost everything on our table came from our own farm. So I don't stop planting and growing something so that we have a food everyday.

Moments like these remind me that farm life is not always easy, but it is rewarding. Growing food, sharing our harvest, and teaching our daughter practical life lessons are blessings that make every day survive here in the farm and become a meaningful always living here.
