Hello Hivians and all you beer lovers.
It's Saturday, which means it's #beersaturday, not that you need an excuse to drink a beer of course! Today though is a new beer for a new year.
Oh no it's not! It's Sunday!!
Well in my defence, it was Saturday when I started this post, but heyho life happens and so it is Sunday that I actually finish and release this post!
And what a start to the new year with my team Rangers humping the enemy Celtic in their ground earlier today 🤣
Time for a SILKIE STOUT

This is not the first dark beer I have tried from the Scottish Loch Lomond Brewery

And it did not disappoint!

Chocolate and Coffee ...
is a winner all day long in my book... so when you put it in a beer, then yes baby, it is nectar!

It pours with a nice wee froth foam, not too much and not too little

The cans are pretty cool.
Blue is always a great colour. They even have a Silkie on the can!
Do you know what a Silkie is?

The Beer ... 🍺 SILKIE STOUT
The Basics
Loch Lomond Brewery Silkie Stout oatmeal stout.
It has an ABV (Alcohol By Volume) of 5.0% and comes in a 440ml can.
The stout has a roast coffee aroma and a rich chocolate flavor.
It is unfiltered for maximum flavor and has a smooth, creamy finish.
Ingredients include malted barley, oats, and wheat.

Tasting Notes
Appearance: A deep, jet-black body with a thick, creamy tan (mocha) head.
Aroma: Strong scents of freshly roasted coffee and dark chocolate, with subtle hints of oatmeal.
Palate: It is a robust oatmeal stout (5% ABV) with rich, velvety chocolate and coffee flavours. Some drinkers also note very subtle hints of dark berries or even a touch of orange in the finish.
Mouthfeel: True to its name, it is "silky" smooth and creamy, thanks to the oats used in the mash. It is full-bodied but remains very easy to drink.
Hops: Brewed with First Gold and Pacifica hops, which provide a balanced bitterness to offset the malty sweetness.

My Verdict
Fluffing smooth and I enjoyed it, talk about tasty! The hints of coffee and chocolate were a delight to behold so to speak! I do love a dark beer and I had my first pint whilst I rustle up that chorizo pasta dish and then had the second pint whilst eating it.
It went equally well or without food.
The 5.0% was a pleasant strength, and at around a couple of quid a can, it was very good value!
Cheers 🍻🍻🍻
