Here is my contribution to BeerSaturday 434 hosted by @detlev with the last beer I bought during my visit to Quinn Farm on Perrot Island near Montreal. This will surely be for a future post for #WednesdayWalk. But for today, it's time to taste Notre Dame de Madame Perron, a NEIPA brewed by Perodam.
Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 434 organisé par @detlev avec ma dernière bière achetée lors de ma visite de la Ferme Quinn sur l'Ile Perrot dans la banlieue de Montréal. Cela sera sûrement pour un prochain #WednesdayWalk. Mais pour aujourd'hui, il s'agit de déguster Notre Dame de Madame Perron, une NEIPA brassée par Perodam.
Here is a map of Quebec where I can show you the exact location of the brewery. Perodam is located on Ile Perrot at 1847 Boulevard Perrot in Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot. It's not very far from Montreal, but it's difficult to get to because the road is often congested as it serves the airport before continuing on to Ottawa and Toronto.

Ce n'est pas très loin de Montréal mais difficile car la route est souvent embouteillée car elle dessert l'aéroport avant d'aller sur Ottawa et Toronto.

Perodam is a community-minded brewery located on Île Perrot that opened on September 29, 2022, making it fairly new. It was founded by five co-founders, including Olivier Bouvrette and and Mathieu Robert, with the goal of creating a community hub and meeting place for local residents. In addition, the brewery is committed to using locally produced agricultural products, thereby providing economic support to farms in the region. It's a wonderful project and initiative to revitalize the village.
Perodam est une brasserie solidaire situé à l’Île Perrot ouverte le 29 septembre 2022, assez récent. Elle a été fondée par 5 cofondateurs dont Olivier Bouvrette, Mathieu Robert avec pour but d'avoir un engagement communautaire, un endroit de rencontre pour les habitants des environs. De plus, la brasserie s'engage à utiliser les produits agricols produit localement et aider ainsi économiquement les fermes de la région. Beau projet et belle initiative pour dynamiser un village.
🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :
Madame Perron is a NEIPA with 6.7% alcohol, quite strong, hopped with Amarillo, El Dorado, and Eukanot (the first time I've heard of this hop variety). In the glass, it has the characteristic color of this type of beer, a fairly cloudy orange-yellow mango color. However, the beer was very effervescent and the foam quickly disappeared. The photo above was taken a few seconds after the beer was poured.
On the palate, we also find the characteristics of a NEIPA with a taste of tropical fruits. However, while NEIPAs are generally sweeter, this Madame Perron has a fairly pronounced bitterness. This isn't unpleasant. However, the last sip was difficult, as I think some yeast had settled at the bottom. I had to drink a large glass of water to get rid of the strong bitterness. A good NEIPA, different from what I'm used to drinking.
La Madame Perron est une NEIPA avec 6.7% d'alcool, assez forte, houblonnée avec de l'Amarillo, El Dorado et Eukanot (première fois que j'entends parler de cette variété de houblon). Dans le verre, on retrouve la robe caractéristique de ce type de bière, un jaune orangé couleur mangue assez troubée. Par contre, la bière était très effervescente et la mousse a vite disparu. La photo ci-dessus a été prise quelques secondes après que la bière a été versée.
En bouche, nous avons là aussi les caractéristiques d'une NEIPA avec un gout de fruits tropicaux. Par contre, généralement plus douce, cette Madame Perron a une amertume assez prononcée. Ce qui n'est pas désagréable. Par contre la dernière gorgée a été difficile, je pense qu'un peu de levure s'était déposée au fond. J'ai dû boire un grand verre d'eau pour faire disparaitre cette forte amertume. Une bonne NEIPA, différente de ce que j'ai l'habitude de boire.
Design
I'm not a fan of the design of Perodam. But after reading a little about the history of the brewery, it makes sense. The logo represents the mill, a nod to Pointe-du-Moulin, the island's historic park where this famous mill is located. I hadn't noticed... but now I can't see anything else 😀.
Je ne suis pas fan du design de Perodam. Mais en lisant un peu sur l'histoire de la brasserie, cela s'explique. Le logo représente le moulin, un clin d'oeil à la Pointe-du-Moulin, parc historique de l’Île où se trouve ce fameux moulin. Je n'avais pas remarqué... mais maintenant je ne vois que ça 😀.
