Here is my contribution to BeerSaturday 427 with another beer from the Microbrasserie du Lac St Jean as I really enjoyed their light beer Padou during the previous #BeerSaturday. It may be light in alcohol but not in taste, see BeerSaturday 426 - Padou. Today, we're talking about Que Viva Lac-St-Jean Obscura, a Mexican lager that is also low in alcohol.
Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 427 avec une autre bière de la Microbrasserie du Lac St Jean comme lors du précédent #BeerSaturday, j'avais bien apprécié leur bière légère Padou, peut-être légère en alcool mais pas en gout, voir BeerSaturday 426 - Padou. Aujourd'hui il s'agit de la Que Viva Lac-St-Jean Obscura, une lager mexicaine elle aussi légère en alcool.

As a reminder, the presentation of this brewery hasn't changed much since last week 😀. The Microbrasserie du Lac St Jean was founded in 2017 by Marc Gagnon, the master brewer, Annie St-Hilaire and Charles Gagnon, three beer enthusiasts, in 2017 in Saint-Gédéon, close to the region's tourist attractions: the beaches of Lac Saint-Jean, the Véloroute des Bleuets bike path, and Pointe-Taillon National Park. It is the first brewery in the region with a strong commitment to local traditions and products.
Pour rappel, la présentation de cette brasserie n'a pas trop changé pas depuis la semaine dernière 😀. La Microbrasserie du Lac St Jean a été fondée par Marc Gagnon, le maitre brasseur, Annie St-Hilaire et Charles Gagnon, trois amateurs de bière, en 2017 à Saint-Gédéon tout près des attractions touristiques de la région : les plages du Lac Saint-Jean, la Véloroute des Bleuets et le Parc national de la Pointe-Taillon. C'est la première brasserie de la région avec un fort attachement aux traditions et aux produits locaux.
🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :
Que Viva Lac-St-Jean Obscura is a Mexican amber lager with only 4% alcohol and an IBU of 20 (very low bitterness). In the glass, it has a fairly dark amber color topped with a good beige head. On the palate, there is a slight hint of caramel, but it's not too sweet and is well balanced with a taste of toast. As stated on the back of the can, this beer is very smooth and easy to drink, perfect for the beach.
La Que Viva Lac-St-Jean Obscura est une lager mexicain ambrée avec seulement 4% d'alcool avec un IBU de 20 (amertume très faible). Dans le verre, on retrouve une couleur ambrée assez foncée surmontée d'une bonne mousse beige. En bouche, on a une note légère de caramel, mais pas trop sucrée, c'est bien équilibré avec un gout de pain grillé. Comme cela est dit au dos de la cannette, cette bière est très douce et se boit facilement parfait à la plage.
Design
The design of this brewery is very appealing; it feels like something out of a cartoon. Following the bear featured on last week's Padou, this design features two Mexican wrestlers straight out of a comic book. At the bottom of the can, all the information is displayed on a background that echoes the color of the beer. So far, I've really enjoyed the two beers I've tasted from this brewery. I'm going to try to find some slightly more complex beers, such as a NEIPA, which would be perfect.
Le design de cette brasserie est très sympathique, on se croirait dans un dessin animé. Après l'ours pour la Padou présentée la semaine dernière, il s'agit de deux lutteurs mexicains tout droit sortis d'une bande dessinée. Et dans le bas de la cannette, on retrouve toutes les informations sur un fond qui rappelle la couleur de la bière. Pour l'instant, j'ai bien aimé les deux bières dégustées de cette brasserie. Je vais essayer de trouver des bières un peu plus complexe comme une NEIPA, cela serait parfait.
