Happy Sunday, blog friends—how are you? Here I am again to share a bit about my life. Unfortunately, the heat is still not giving us a break, but we did go out yesterday evening. We had a lovely day: we took a leisurely start to the morning and handled the basic household chores (it’s too hot for deep cleaning; I’ll save that for when it cools down). For lunch, we found a discounted box of assorted sushi—really good stuff—containing salmon, tuna, and shrimp nigiri, crab and salmon uramaki, and other crab and salmon rolls, all for just 12 euros. It was a real bargain, and the fish was high quality, unlike the cheap sushi you find at discount stores. In the afternoon, since it was so hot, we stayed quietly at home watching horror movies—even watching serious films feels like a chore in this heat—and snacking a bit. We had planned to go out in the evening, though, so we decided to take a walk in one of the villages in the area known as "Svizzera Pesciatina," which is about half an hour away from us. We’ve visited this village several times before because they host lots of festivals and fairs there, and a colleague and friend of my husband lives there too. It’s situated in the hills, so we chose to go there hoping to find a bit of cooler air.
Feliz domingo, amigos del blog: ¿cómo están? Aquí estoy de nuevo para compartirles un poco sobre mi vida. Por desgracia, el calor no nos da tregua, pero aun así salimos ayer por la tarde. Pasamos un día estupendo: empezamos la mañana con calma y nos ocupamos de las tareas domésticas básicas (hace demasiado calor para una limpieza a fondo; dejaré eso para cuando refresque). Para el almuerzo, encontramos una caja de sushi variado rebajada de precio —estaba buenísimo— que incluía nigiris de salmón, atún y gamba, uramakis de cangrejo y salmón, y otros rollos de cangrejo y salmón, todo por solo 12 euros. Fue una verdadera ganga y el pescado era de gran calidad, a diferencia del sushi barato que se encuentra en tiendas de descuento. Por la tarde, como hacía tanto calor, nos quedamos tranquilos en casa viendo películas de terror —incluso ver películas serias se hace pesado con este calor— y picando algo. Sin embargo, teníamos planeado salir al caer la tarde, así que decidimos dar un paseo por uno de los pueblos de la zona conocida como "Svizzera Pesciatina", que está a media hora de donde vivimos. Ya hemos visitado este pueblo varias veces porque allí se celebran muchas fiestas y ferias, y además vive allí un compañero y amigo de mi marido. Está situado en las colinas, por lo que elegimos ir allí con la esperanza de encontrar un poco de aire más fresco.
Getting there wasn't easy; our GPS sent us down a different route than usual, taking us along some very winding roads—though the views were breathtaking. It took us through the medieval villages of Massa and Cozzile, which we decided to visit properly whenever we get the chance. Then we ventured into the hills along wooded roads in the middle of nowhere—we didn't even have a phone signal—but it was definitely cooler there than in the city. Finally, we arrived in Vellano, where we took a short walk in the fresh air and spent a few peaceful hours sitting on a bench. Vellano is a really charming village; it’s just a shame my phone takes such terrible night photos. Once back home, we didn't feel like cooking—it was much hotter in the city than up in the hills—so we made two ready-made pizzas: a Margherita and a mushroom one. We added some good gorgonzola to both; after all, Saturday is the perfect day for pizza, isn't it? They were both delicious, especially with the added gorgonzola! See you soon, blog friends!
Llegar no fue fácil; el GPS nos llevó por una ruta distinta a la habitual, recorriendo carreteras muy sinuosas, aunque las vistas eran impresionantes. Pasamos por los pueblos medievales de Massa y Cozzile, que decidimos visitar con calma en cuanto tengamos oportunidad. Luego nos adentramos en las colinas por caminos boscosos, en medio de la nada —ni siquiera teníamos cobertura móvil—, pero allí refrescaba bastante más que en la ciudad. Por fin llegamos a Vellano, donde dimos un breve paseo al aire libre y pasamos unas horas tranquilas sentados en un banco. Vellano es un pueblo con mucho encanto; es una pena que mi móvil saque fotos nocturnas tan malas. Al volver a casa, no teníamos ganas de cocinar —hacía mucho más calor en la ciudad que en las colinas—, así que preparamos dos pizzas listas para hornear: una Margherita y otra de champiñones. A ambas les añadimos un buen queso gorgonzola; al fin y al cabo, el sábado es el día perfecto para la pizza, ¿verdad? ¡Estaban deliciosas, sobre todo con el toque del gorgonzola! ¡Hasta pronto, amigos del blog!
