Hi Hive friends and supporters!

For last Sunday morning I had a huge food order for a birthday party! Can you imagine that I was busy buying, preparing, cooking and packing the food already since three full days (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) before the delivery date?

It was really hard and time consuming work, but I like to make food and of course it meant some very appreciated extra income!

My customers in Hong Kong already know that nothing beats home-cooked Filipino food, it's so delicious, so they just want it, hehe! And apart from that it's not easy to find outside in a restaurant and expensive as well!

Among others I prepared the following dishes:

  • Lumpiang Shanghai: deep-fried vegetable spring rolls (main ingredients: lumpia wrapper & chopped carrots) - a Filipino kid favorite! It's one of my favorites too, and a kind of food which I sell very often here in Hong Kong. Even if I love its taste a lot I don't eat Lumpiang Shanghai all the time because 'scientifically' speaking, it contains too much oil and thus isn't great for our body's nutrients, hehe.

  • Afritadang Manok: a comforting tomato-based chicken stew with potatoes, carrots, bell peppers, and sometimes green peas.

  • Adobong Manok: the Philippines' unofficial national dish — chicken braised in vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaves, and black pepper.

  • Pansit Bihon: stir-fried rice noodles with vegetables (carrots, cabbage), meat (chicken, pork), and sometimes shrimps. One of my all-time bestsellers!

  • Dinakdakan: a fiery Ilocano dish made with grilled pig’s face (ears, cheeks), liver, and brain, tossed in calamansi, onions, chili, and mayonnaise.

  • Puto Cheese: soft, steamed rice cakes topped with melted cheese (usually cheddar or Eden).

You can find the YouTube version of this video here.

By the way, next time I will show you a video about crispy lumpia with chayote & green beans - so stay tuned, hehe!

Anyway, here you go, guys! Watch the pics and my video, enjoy, and happy cooking!
