We are facing the Sinhala New Year that is coming tomorrow. I am also very busy, so today I made another delicious New Year's snack. This is called 'Naran Kewum'. It is very easy to make. So let's see how to make it.
Ingredients;
- 300g of sugar
- A teaspoon of vanilla
- 3/4 teaspoon of salt powder
- 150g of Plain flour
- 300g of grated coconut
- Five tablespoons of hot water
- 200ml of oil
- 50ml of water
- Half teaspoon of turmeric powder
The method of making;
First, we need to prepare the coconut honey mixture. For that, we need to caramelize the sugar. Add these four sugar and caramelize until golden brown.
Add three tablespoons of hot water.
Mix again.
Then add remaining sugar to it.
Stir over low heat until the sugar dissolves well.
Now add a teaspoon of vanilla and mix well.
Now reduce the heat on the stove even further and add the grated coconut and make a mixture.
Then add half teaspoon of salt powder.
Let the prepared coconut honey mixture cool down and keep it aside.
Now add six tablespoons of bread flour and fry over low heat for four minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add this fried flour to the coconut honey mixture and mix well.
Now let's make the batter. To do this, add 120g of plain flour to a bowl, add 1/4 teaspoon of salt powder and half a teaspoon of turmeric powder and mix.
Now add water little by little to make a thick batter.
Now, let's make small balls from the coconut honey mixture that we kept aside.
Meanwhile, we put a deep pot with oil on the stove and let it heat up over low heat.
As shown in the pictures, we dip these small balls in the thick batter and add them to the hot oil.
Deep-frying these balls in oil for about four minutes is enough.
This Naran Kevum is a delicious New Year's sweet dish that can be made quickly and easily, without much effort, with a small amount of ingredients. This is very famous in our country. Because it is very easy to make, anyone, even someone who is like to learn to cooking, can make it according to this method and in this order and taste it. It has a sweet taste.
