「 What’s best to describe your weekend? 」

For me, it’s like I was orbiting chaos. Four days ago, my mom got extremely ill and since it was Friday, our regular physician was closed. The next day, we scheduled an appointment and eventually got a spot. Lo and behold, thankfully it wasn’t something extremely life threatening.

I couldn’t remember much the past couple of days other than I was writing something on my blog. It’s intriguing to me how I am not aware of what pretty much I do these days. It’s like time flies pretty fast and look, now it’s already 16th of September!

On Saturday morning after the doctor’s appointment, I took my mom to get some porridge from a new place in town. With my mom being sick, we won’t really have the time to cook nor prepare food. Somehow, it was a good opportunity for me to try some new spots in town.

For some of us, porridge is a way to start the day and a meal that some of us crave when we’re sick. In my family, this is kind of like a staple when we’re sick. This new place in town is located in front of a famous coffee shop & is part of the place & it’s called tokobuburnoman.

They sell chinese styled porridge alongside turmeric rice with assorted side dishes. We ordered two bowls of their porridge and were pretty surprised by their taste. Their porridge has this crunchy toppings that goes really well with the savory porridge. In the end, it cost $2 for a two bowl of it that was so warm and quite hearty.

A breakfast isn’t complete with coffee, so that’s what I got too, coffee to start the day. We were seated inside the place with a view of their yard.

While I had been to this place a couple of times, it was only that time that I saw how peaceful the place was. I even saw some squirrels around the area, jumping from one tree to another. It was like being brought to another dimension as it’s something we rarely see in this city. I guess this is why this place is very popular because amidst the city, there is a cozy and breezy place like this coffee & porridge shop.

Their coffee was so-so and I ordered magic and it wasn't like the one I had in my normal place. It's a mixture of Arabica and Robusta. So, it was hard to actually get the fuller taste notes of the coffee since it's actually mixed variety than one. The milk was overpowering that I couldn't even taste the coffee in it. So, I wouldn't be back again as their coffee is so-so but the place, it was so serene. Maybe they have better options, but their magic is

Saturday was I guess the culmination of all the chaos but I was still trying to be productive that day. So, after sending my mom back, I went for a swim to actually get some exercise and center my mind. Did it work? Honestly a bit.

Then, a heavy rain poured down and I had to take shelter at this noodle joint bar where I ended up getting my dinner from. It’s a new place next to the swimming pool and offers several noodle menus with mostly chinese styled noodles. I got their chili oil dimsum as well to accompany it. I wouldn’t rate it as high as a 7 but it was just decent enough for the same noodle in its types.

The place itself was pretty humble and it’s as if we’re eating in a neighborhood stall but a lot more modern. These days many cafes mimic the izakaya bar style where the cook is in the center and the patrons are around the place. It’s pretty interesting and I kept thinking “what if I get a kitchen and dining like this", it would have been an interesting and more intimate way of dining.

I ended up going home with only 2 % battery left on my phone and since I was using online transportation, I almost couldn’t make it home and had to walk 😂 but in the end, I got home. Then, I spent the rest of the day taking care of my mother.

Long time no see mac! First time i hear about a mixed coffee (arabica and robusta) never tried it before. As always, great pictures.

hahahaha yeah, it's not something that I would recommend tbh but eitherway, a good combo

I agree, can’t believe how quick September’s going 😂
Porridge always brings comfort when we’re sick, but it’s also something I enjoy anytime.
Wait, is that chicken intestine on a stick? We call it 'isaw' in the Philippines. These pics are making me hungry at 1:30am 🥹😭

Those are definitely isaw! We often have porridge with isaw and it's one of our favorites to add as toppings on it.

Gossip. Nothing beats that feeling. The closest thing that might be near to it, it's a silent cup of well done black coffee

That's so true! Nothing beats that feeling especially in the morning.

Porridge is always good especially when you're sick. The way this year keep running I can't explain it very soon we'll enter October. By the way, those food looks delicious.😊😋

haha right, I can't even believe myself that it's reaching out october

Your mom is lucky to have you. I hope your mom will feel better soon.
Noodles is the best food when it's raining because of the soup that makes you feel warm inside. I haven't tried turmeric rice before sounds interesting!

Thankfully she's way better now.
