Life can sometimes be stressful, and that is why a little getaway with family is very important. Spending time together in a new place helps us relax, recharge, and create memories that we will always remember. For this blog, I will share with you our weekend trip to Moalboal, Cebu, a beautiful place filled with fun activities, delicious food, and amazing sights.

Hello Hivers! How are you doing? I am very much excited to share about my first blog. In this blog, I will tell you about the things we did during our short but meaningful trip. My aunt decided to bring us to Moalboal since Saturday and Sunday are her rest days at work. She had already been there before, and because she enjoyed the place so much, she wanted us to experience it too.

We woke up early at around 5:00 A.M. in the morning to get ready and pack our things. We left home around 6:00 A.M. and my Uncle dropped us off to the South Bus Terminal in Cebu City. The ride took about 30 minutes because it was still early and there was no traffic. When we arrived at the South Bus Terminal, we bought tickets for the bus to Moalboal. The bus ride lasted for about three hours, but we were excited, so it did not feel too long.

When we arrived, we rode a tricycle going to Panagsama Beach Resort, the place where we stayed overnight. The ride was about 20 minutes. After checking into our room and leave our things, we decided to eat at a restaurant beside the resort. The restaurant was located near the beach, which made the ambiance really nice. We could enjoy the fresh sea breeze, listen to the sound of the waves, and eat delicious food at the same time.

While waiting for our food to be served, we noticed some puppies lying under our table. Looking around, I also saw several dogs freely walking in the area. They were harmless, and seemed to be part of the community. This made me happy because the place felt pet friendly and welcoming.

After eating, we stopped by a frozen yogurt shop. Their Froyo was so refreshing and it was the perfect treat after our meal. It had just the right sourness and it really made me feel happy. Have you ever felt happy after eating an ice cream? Because that's what I truly felt at that moment while eating my froyo. It is definitely something I would miss. Their store was also cute that made me want to stay longer. It also looked picture worthy, and it was the kind of place where you could enjoy your dessert while taking fun photos with your friends.

Later that night, we strolled around the area. There were many souvenir shops selling different items. I bought a cute necklace for a cheap price, and we also purchased a fridge magnet and a small turtle figurine. We continued walking along the beach enjoying the peaceful view until we got tired and went to our accommodation to rest.

On our second and last day in Moalboal, we joined an activity called the Sardine Run. It was the most unforgettable part of the trip. We were able to swim with thousands of sardines, and it was truly an amazing experience. The sardines were not too far from the shore, but the water there was already very deep because, as the tour guide explained, there was an underwater cliff. Our guide also filmed us underwater and gave us the chance to enjoy the moment.

Since I know how to swim, the tour guide let me remove my life jacket so I could go closer to the sardines and get a nice underwater shot. I did not go too deep because I did not know how to equalize, and my ears started to hurt, but I still had so much fun. The guides were really professional and skilled with using an underwater camera becuse our photos and videos underwater turned out to be so good, which made the experience even better.

We were also lucky to see a tortoise since it was still early in the morning. According to the guides, not everyone gets to see it every day. They explained that it was looking for food and reminded us not to touch it because that was against the law. Touching a tortoise could lead to a fine, so we were only allowed to go near it. We took amazing pictures with the tortoise, and I was really thankful to the guides for keeping us safe and making the experience memorable.

After the Sardine Run, we had breakfast at a restaurant near our accommodation. The place was called Smooth, and it looked like both a cafe and a restaurant because it offered different kinds of beverages, and meals. I ordered bacon and egg, potato chips with ranch, and an oreo frappe. The food was delicious, especially the potato chips, which were not too salty and tasted great with the ranch. I asked for a ketchup with it because I usually eat potato chips with ketchup but the ranch did not disappoint. We stayed there for a while, chatting with my family and enjoying the cozy place.

When it was almost time to go home, we packed our things, rode a tricycle to the bus stop, and then took a bus back to Cebu City. Our trip may have been short, but it was filled with wonderful experiences and memories that I will always treasure.

This trip reminded me how important it is to take breaks from the stress of life and spend quality time with the people we love. Moalboal gave us not just fun activities but also a moment of peace. It was truly a beautiful and memorable getaway. Until my next blog, thank you for reading!

Thank you for the reminder. Most adults now are busy running for their works that they tend to forget how necessary a break is. Your Moalboal experience is so relaxing to read and you have great photos attached. I love the puppies you took photo of but the way you defined them as harmless feels more human. I’m glad you enjoyed reading it and found it relaxing. The puppies were really a sweet highlight of the trip. I’ll definitely share more experiences like this soon! 😊
