After a hard days work nothing feels better than a good meal. So when I finished up the mineral show today I wanted a good, comfort meal to finish the day off. As soon as I got to my hotel I searched for Mexican food and I was surprised about 8 places came up on my map. One, The Crazy Burrito, was very near my hotel. So off I went.

The Crazy Burrito is a very small restaurant in Kobe. I think it can only seat 6 at the counter and 4 at the only table. The rest of the space is taken up by the kitchen.

One thing I immediately noticed was there were only 3 women working. No men. It's just not something you normally see in Japan, but anyone who's married knows women cook some of the best food you will ever eat. This was no exception.
After browsing the menu, which was written in English as well as Japanese, I decided on the steak burrito set with chips, regular size. There are 4 sizes, half, small, regular and big.

Of course I had to order a Corona because you just can not eat Mexican food without a Mexican beer. Cheers!

After only about 5minutes my burrito was ready!

You may have noticed the wide variety of hot sauces at the counter. My favorite hot sauce is a chipotle, which is a smoked chili pepper. Lucky for me they had a chipotle Cholula hot sauce.

I added it to my burrito and dove in.

I shit you not, this was one of the most delicious burritos I have ever had. I've eat burritos in Mexico, Southern California and all over the US and I can honestly say the ladies in the kitchen have put a lot of places in the US to shame.
Everything was perfectly balanced. No flavors overwhelmed the other and each bite had me wanting another bite of the amazing flavor. It was so good I had to order another Corona and savor every bite slowly. The stock ingredients were meat, corn, lettuce, beans, cilantro, cheese, and lemon sour cream. Other burritos had some additional ingredients, but these were the basics.

Two soldiers down and I was now digging into the nachos that came with the burrito.

These were surprisingly delicious as well. They were smothered with their homemade garlic mayonnaise sauce. Another job well done. They also offer this sauce for sale as a take out item. I may go back and get some before I leave it was so good and unique.
And with that my meal was done. It cost $23 which included two beers and was worth every cent. I would highly recommend this place if you are ever in Kobe. They have pork, beef, chicken and vegetarian options for tacos, burritos, nachos and tostada salads. Something for everyone. My only concern would be your ability to get in. It's a very small restaurant so you may want to call ahead of time to get in.
The Crazy Burrito is located very close to Kobe Sannomiya station so it's easy to get to. Hope to hear from someone else who visits in the future.
Then it was off to explore the city.

Thanks for reading!
