For the last several years, every summer I go at least for a while to Stavros, a small town in northern Greece. This year it was my first summer vacation. I spent 10 days there in July with my family.
We go to Stavros most often because of the Greek godparents who baptized our daughter and whom we love very much, we have become great friends. And of course, because of the beautiful Aegean sea, especially in the surrounding area.
And because of the delicious food and Greek specialties such as shrimps or mussels saganaki. 😊
The place I like to visit the most while we are there is the old town of Stavros, known in Greece as Ano Stavros.
Everything is always the same there, but it is experienced in a different way every time.
It is peaceful and during the day the locals are mostly not on the streets because of the warm weather, but go out later. There are a lot of old people with a cheerful spirit who like to hang out with their friends and always have a reason for gatherings and small celebrations.
I love the blue color of a special shade that can often be seen in Greece and is particularly beautiful there.
When you continue to walk a little above the old town of Stavros, you come to a beautiful viewpoint of the whole town and it is one of those moments that is worth experiencing every time you are in this place.
There is also a restaurant, so you can refresh yourself. My kids especially love coming to this place so we stopped by on our last day before heading back. And this time too we took with us beautiful memories from this town, like every year before.
Thank you for reading.
