Hello everyone! Today is Sunday, so after church we all gathered at my husband’s family house for lunch. Sunday is one of my favorite days because we have time to be together, cook food, and eat as one family. It feels nice when everyone is around the table sharing food and stories. We gather because we talk about our contributions for upcoming family reunion with my husband’s side family.

For our lunch today, I cooked chopsuey. I was happy because I brought fresh vegetables from our farm in the mountain. I always feel proud when I can bring something from our own garden. It is fresh, healthy, and it helps us save money too. We also bought chicken liver so the dish would have more flavor and something tasty to mix with the vegetables.

The ingredients I used were cabbage, carrots, bell pepper, chayote, Baguio beans, cauliflower, chicken liver, ginger, onion, garlic, soy sauce, salt, and cornstarch. These vegetables are good so the dish looked nice and fresh and healthy.

First, I washed all the vegetables well. Then I sliced the cabbage, carrots, bell pepper, sayote, Baguio beans, and cauliflower into bite-size pieces. I also chopped the onion, garlic, and ginger. After that, I cleaned the chicken liver and sliced it into smaller pieces.

Next, I heated the pan and added a little oil. I sauteed the onion, garlic, and ginger until color brown. Then I added the chicken liver and cooked it until it changed color and was fully cooked. After that, I added soy sauce and a little salt for seasoning.
Then I placed all the vegetables into the pan. I mixed everything well and let it cook for a few minutes. I did not overcook it because I wanted the vegetables to stay a little crunchy. After that, I mixed cornstarch with water and poured it into the pan. This made the sauce a little thick and helped coat all the vegetables.

While I was cooking, there were two playful children beside me. They were pointing at the vegetables and saying their names. It made me laugh and feel happy. They were enjoying watching me cook, and the kitchen felt full of joy.
For me, having vegetables from our farm is a big blessing. If we want to eat vegetables anytime, we can just harvest and cook. It saves money and gives us fresh food.
